Willa was working as a call girl, but not with necessarily with the intention of marrying into wealth or anything like that. She just wanted to make some money. Getting married is a different thing. They met *because* she is a call girl, and now Connor wants her to stay with him. She clearly doesn't love him, but staying with him could potentially set her for life, so she's at a loss for what to do.

The 'Friendly States' are called The Upper Midwest. Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, N/S Dakotas. Tom is from Minnesota. Great reaction!

This is a very interesting and addictive show

I don't think Tom or Greg has EVER been to a place like Rhomboid, or even Connor for that matter, so I don't think their reaction to being there is all that weird. It seems like you need to know that kind of crowd to even be invited to a place like that, and from what we have seen so far, Tom, Greg, and Connor obviously don't seem to run in that crowd. Also, we saw what Tom considers "being rich" when he took Greg out to dinner and a club and it certainly wasn't this. Roman and Kendall are the only two who seem comfortable there.

During my first watch Willa was the only person I was actively rooting for. Connor seems normal in the first episode until he opens his mouth about owning water rights and reveals himself to be another billionaire libertarian lol. Just awful but sweet in his own way. I think her motivation is what tripped you up a little here. Also, midwest is the word you're looking for with Tom.

Oh my gosh, Chrissie, this was hilarious! So many fantastic moments, you had me cracking me up; you gasping at Shiv's wedding dress was priceless. They really do an incredible job with her clothes in particular. (and Sarah Snook the actress doesn't dress like that at all!) You are a FANTASTIC reactor for this series, when people discover this channel, and these Succesion reactions, they're going to love it. I could never watch more than one episode of this show, they grossed me out so much. I actually enjoy the reactions more than the show itself! Your laugh is so infectious, so spontaneous and unforced, and always laughing at the smartest, coolest, hippest jokes. Ahhhhh, you're the best! Looking forward to the next one! PS: Love all your character analysis/questions. I don't want to say anything so I don't give spoilers, but I will say that Justine Lupe who plays Willa appeared in three series all at once, in completely different parts. The Magnificent Mrs. Maisel, another show (title I forget) where she plays an autistic person, looks completely different, totally different mannerisms.....and then Succession. Really good actress (like everyone else on the show). And maybe you need to do a rewatch of Pride And Prejudice, just to protect Matthew McFayden!!!! What an actor, right? I think he is brilliant as Tom! (they're all great!)

PS: Are the accents of Tom and Shiv still bothering you? I must say, I had no idea they weren't American until I saw them interviewed, I was shocked it was bothering you! They've been both getting praise for those accents! I think Sarah Snook falls back on a certain speech pattern/cadence.....but so do lots of people in real life. McFayden, though, jeez. He's got different voices for who he's talking to, different speeds, etc. I heard that he and Sarah Snook had the hardest time saying "New York"! Isn't that wild? :D One more time with feeling: so much fun watching these reactions! Hope you're having fun and not burning yourself out!

It was really just the first episode then I stopped noticing or maybe I just embraced them as their characters :) although I still find myself adjusting to McFadyen a lot more, only because he's so iconically British to me heh.

@@chrissiereacts No I think it's pretty apparent after these last few episodes. You can see the heartbreak in Tom's face every time he realizes Shiv is either using him or let's on that she has been or will be unfaithful. When he says "I actually do love you" he sells it. At least for me. MacFadyen is amazing in this role. Definitely deserved all the awards he received.

Tom being a goofy guy at his bachelor party: “Man I hate this guy” Shiv literally sitting in bed with her ex actively cheating on her fiancé who loves her: “I see where shes coming from” Oooooof Not trying to be mean, this is a great reaction and im looking forward to watching the rest. But someone else already mentioned this too, you should really try to expand your perception of their relationship as you go into the later seasons. I’d guess youre done with season 2 so maybe you already have some sense of what I mean.

Yeah but this is like taking an excerpt of half a sentence. I finished by saying she's being an asshole for being secretive about her behaviour. And I laughed at Tom's behaviour with the BJ, so me hating on him has nothing to do with that. I feel like you're comparing apples to oranges here... not trying to be combative but my dislike of Tom is to do with him being power hungry and honestly an all around git lol. I criticize every character for their flaws. It's not fair to paint me as favouring female v male behaviour when I absolutely didn't.

@@chrissiereacts I get that. I guess moreso the idea of him just being a power hungry rube, and not actually loving shiv, isn’t really the case. I think for most people if they haven’t picked up on that, they start to sense it during their conversation the night before the wedding. And beyond that a lot of season 2 gets into that which I really enjoyed watching. You’re not the only one to feel that way though, and I think some of it just has to do with Tom’s character changing over time. He certainly has basically no redeeming qualities in the pilot episode, but if you watch closely the way they write for him changes quite a bit. Succession is a character driven show which is why you’ll get people having strong reactions to disagreements, hopefully I don’t fall into that category, because I just love the show and want to make sure that you’re seeing the writing for what it is. But like I said, really enjoyed the reaction. I may disagree on this but you have great insight and I’d definitely cast a vote for seeing more here on KZread.
