Just a FYI I’ve seen cardinals almost 3 inches long in a public aquarium. I’ve also kept a school for at least 10 years - that another big difference between cardinal and neon tetras.

So how is the cage built, what type of moss are you using also? Is the top part a different grid or just different color ?

Does the peat moss float? Is it a big mess to get settled?

What test kit are you using for this? I use API but they don't have a KH/GH test? I'm just getting into this. I've had fish off and on my whole life, but really want to breed Cardinals now that I'm a bit older and more experienced.

Just found your channel. Love this! What plant do you have in the bottom there at 4:22? The tiny one. Also what substrate are you using in this? Same timestamp.

Hi, I have been trying to get my Paracheirodon Simulans (green neons) to breed for a good 3 months now but this getting 'comfortable' at '29°C' is completely new to me. So, as I haven't been able to find any usable breeding instructions for specifically Simulans I'll give this method a go. You mention collecting more eggs using the peat bottom, but do you keep and condition the adults in that tank in the same manner as in the pure RO tank? And how do you know a spawning took place since finding eggs in the peat seems kindof hard?

yeah I'm going to try green neons too. I've heard it's recommended to warm up the water since it signals warmer weather (aka spring) which is optimal breeding for them. Cardinals like it much warmer than green neons so I wouldn't go up that high but 26.5 may be enough okay. Good luck!

I have some cardinals in a 60cm planted community tank. Should I condition them in that tank for a few weeks before moving them to a breeding tank, or move them first before conditioning? Would it be best to separate the sexes and condition them? I figure if you have them together for a few weeks whilst conditioning, what's stopping the female from laying eggs each day and thus not having many when "breeding day" comes (where you remove them the next day to avoid eating fry since they hatch quickly). Thanks in advance
