Subwoofer Comparison Sonus faber Gravis II and REL T/9i

Ойын-сауық

Adrian unboxes the Sonus Faber Gravis II subwoofer and compares it to its competitor the REL T/9i. This is going to be Part 1 of a 2 part video, where we compare the Sonus faber Gravis II with the REL T/9i sonically and physically.

    Crack the subs open, show the drivers, show the amps, show the internal build of the cabinet, listen to both and gives us your thoughts. That's te kind of review that's needed. People watching this reviews would like depth of information.

    Please bring us the comparison video - extremely interesting background you provided on this. I am on the brink of a significant speaker upgrade (primarily because I want better bass) and sometimes wonder if serious subwoofers might be the most effective solution. I do have a PV1D paired with my B&W 804D2s, and it helps, but I am always concerned with placement, phasing, crossover settings, etc. Thus my current thought is larger full-range speakers. Anyway - a comparison and thoughts on this from Adrian and Villip would be good viewing. Keep it up guys and thank you. I truly wish your store was close enough to visit.

    Helpful video. I just picked up a Q201E and am anxious to see how they do with my Olympica IIs when my room is built. Plan to probably only use the sub with streaming, otherwise just the Sonus faber for turntable listening.

    Looking at these two subs. Would it be possible when you showed a deeper look at the Gravis line to show the different woods? I am trying to get a handle on Sonus Faber's Wenge usage but the website photos are not helping that much. Thanks!

    I love my pair of REL T/9is! They were easy to integrate. They have revolutionized my Magnepan 1.7i system. I was in bass denial for a while with the Maggies. But there is no significant sub bass and no percussive bass slam. Adding the RELs fixed all of that. I put them on hockey pucks to decouple them from my hardwood floor otherwise they shake the whole house! They are attached via Kimber Cu high level connection cables to a pair of Bryston 28B3 monoblocks.

    Do the subs really make a big difference? I had a pair of 1.7’s sold them for a lack of bass. Running Bryston as well.

    @@georgebartolo8856 The pair of REL T/9i subs make a HUGE difference. They have revolutionized my system with the Maggies. I can’t stress this enough. The Maggies are great on the midrange and top end. But they need help with bass and sub bass. They just have no bass slam or any percussive quality. The RELs add that and can be integrated well with the 1.7i pair.

    I really look forward to their audio performance comparison. My rig incorporates 2 Rel T9X subs. As you unboxed that sub I thought someone had duped you and slipped a Rel in that box. They could almost be manufactured by a 3rd party, and packaged and marketed separately with a few minor cosmetic differences.

    If one wants a speaker, one goes to a speaker maker. If one wants a subwoofer, one goes to a subwoofer maker. Hence the reason why I've got sonus Faber sonetto's hooked-up to stereo Rels 🥳

    i dont understand why you need for markings on the XO. you should be adjusting by sound not frequency number.

  • @bbfoto7248

    @bbfoto7248

    3 жыл бұрын

    While the Xover Frequency demarkations would never be very precise, many speaker manufacturers specify a recommended Xover frequency for their loudspeakers for adding/integrating a subwoofer. Sure, there are many variables that will ultimately decide the ideal final Xover Frequency & Slope, but the manufacturer's suggestions are generally a useful guide and a good starting point based on their testing and experience.

    Agreed. And IDK, perhaps inform Vilip when you will be recording videos so he doesn't walk around jingling his keys? It would also be good to use a "Key light" or "front light" to illuminate Adrian and the products from the camera position so that they are not in unflattering deep shadows from the room's built-in overhead lighting. In addition, the TITLE of the video should be changed to include, "UNBOXING" and "PHYSICAL Comparison".

    Title should be "unboxing", not comparison. It is really dissapointing to see the complete video expecting that by some point you will start comparing their sound and performance, and that never happens. You say there will be another video for that. Then fix the title for this video.

If you can’t do as good of a job as Adrian then what are you complaining about. 😂 It’s more about “how” you are addressing him too. You could be more respectful? I actually like how some show the appearance and features of electronic components. It’s hard to get a reference pertaining to sound and performance because our rooms are not the same etc.
