What?? lol The song lyrics have basically nothing to say about being a janitor or what it's about, she simply says 'I'm a janitor, oh my genitals" because she met this janitor at her school who had a funny sounding voice, and when he said "I'm a janitor." it sounded like "Oh my genitals."

Yes, come 1984 the 80's were more mainstream and less underground it seemed.

i love this song so much
Just to explain that this is about: the guitarist wrote a song about science and he said it was full of bad science word play: "everything is irrelative" "man the manipulator". Separately, a man told Su he was a janitor and she heard "genitals" and put it together as a chorus. Guitarist liked the janitor line a lot because it broke up his weak world play with something much more.
Most placid, fun singer, ever
Truly amazing
I was 16 and going to a Christian high school when this came out. Girls at our school dressed this way, and we guys actually liked it. The 1980s were honestly very conservative in some ways. But then you read the lyrics and you go "What in the world...?"
