Subtitled | Manual sewing machine 100 years ago to sew soles | German antique JUNKER & RUH SD28
I introduced the German antique sewing machine JUNKER & RUH. It is a hand-cranked sewing machine, that is, a sewing machine for sewing soles, but I do not use it in my shoe making. It may be good to make sandals.

As far as I know, you cut a channel on the underside of the material you want to sew and the machine has an attachment that will lock into that and ensure that your stitching follows the channel nicely. But this machine is probably more for work boots than fine dress shoes 😁

The machine was invented in 1865 during the Crimerian war where the shoemakers from a small part of the country had to deliver 4000 military boots every day. A officer from England stole a machine and put it into production. The danish version "Vilhelm Pedersen model 308" was produced from 1912 -around 1960. (info from a shoemaker museum in Denmark). It is a fast machine for military boots. Not fine shoes. The manual says there is different pressioreplates and needels for different designs of shoes so it is possible to sew fine shoes on it. But not as close as handsewn shoes.

That's excellent! Thanks for your knowledge. I got to know this machine very well.
