This Web3 Summit 2018 is proving to be like the Live Aid concert of 1985 - A snapshot of undeniable history in the making
I cannot believe I have spent 1hr 25mins watching something I have absolutely no idea about, except for the unwrapping and setup of a Macbook!! However, I can fully appreciate achieving something in 30mins that would normally take much much longer. For that reason, I plan to invest in this company / technology.
You should be in no doubt that what was demoed here is astonishing. Gavin Wood seems to be so far ahead of everyone else it's hard to keep up with the speed at which his work is being delivered and released. There is a drive and a clear vision, that few really appreciate.

100% agreed!! Atomic composability allows an ecosystem to innovate much faster... The best innovations of different projects can be plug and played together for another relatively low effort combination. Atomic composability basically = supercharge for DLT innovation We need this feature at scale, if the scaling solutions break this feature then that's a superpower lost :(

This man is a genius..
Dr Wood is pure GENIUS. So much to explore in the technological mastodons that he and his team are building. This is the future of blockchain, web development and fintech under the same hood. I am making it my prime objective to finish my CS studies and work for Parity technologies within the next 5 years. I know I sound like a fangirl but, my gosh, Substrate is as exciting as BFR going to Mars! :)

The random function used in this demo for coin toss is not secure right? I mean adversary can predict the outcome before hand if s/he runs a blockchain node.

The first tutorial for getting substrate up and going doesn't work anymore and I have no idea how to get it working.

They see other videos. The team has to identify and fix the issues that makes a great video unattractive! One of them is the loooooong video time. As example, if you want to see when Substrate is used to lunch a blockchain, you have to watch about 1 hour till the time came 😅

@@MuhammadAltabba But, don't you need to understand WHY they came up with Substrate before watching what it does, in practice? Big picture -> Implementation makes sense to me.

@@nachannachle2706 Big picture could comes from reading. Videos are more important for practical parts. If you have a full time job, a family to look after, and you learn and invest in your free time, then spending 1 or 2 hours on listing to questions and answers is a real waste of your valuable time. This is because for example, in accumulated 24 hours you are supposed to learn a new programming language or learn a new technology.

It differs quite a lot. Both are awesome projects that will improve the world. I’m not a maximalist so there’s room in the world for both Ada, DOT, and even ETH and BTC.

AFAIK he was kicked out of the foundation but because he still loves the blockchain he started Parity
Why 100 parachain, why not 1000 or 10.000. I dont like hard code number ?

iam just happy that the best crypto minds in the world still took an hour to set up a pc/mac to code on . trick kind of lost its punch.
Developing blockchain on a MAC? Failed.
Most of this is too high IQ for me ....but I sense they are onto something massive.
