@@bighmm6301 Reaper is a reaper. Sea dragons have come as far as the lost river before, so a juvenile may have somehow made its way to the crash zone and found an ample source of food in the local reaper population.

Reapers look a lot bigger when you're standing on top of your base, and they're jumping around on top of it and you finally get a sense of scale.

I have thalassophobia so me even PLAYING this game to begin with is a huge thing. I was so terrified of the reapers that I couldn’t go to the Aurora to advance in the game so decided I’d fuck around with console commands, giving myself a cyclops and making the world creative. When I plucked up the courage to travel to the Aurora in my cyclops I literally lasted about 1 minute as a reaper launched my cyclops out of the water and I immediately quit😭

I just realized, if you look at the shape of the tail, and not only that, but the skin of the reaper, you notice that the fin on it's tail isn't sideways, it's facing downward, the same as sea mammals. It also has no gills, it's skin has a smooth texture. Also, the reaper is the only creature who doesn't have an egg. Conclusion: the reaper is a mammal.

Man, I'd love to see you send this save file to Markiplier and have him freak out just exploring this base.

You inspired me to make a sea dragon observatory so I built it kind of on top of the mountain that the thermal plant is inside, I got it nearly complete and went out to add something minor, didn’t see the dragon anywhere so I turned and faced my base and then heard the roar and had time to turn around to see his gaping jaws coming at me. Instant death, which would be fine except I only play on Hardcore now lol

Something I noticed: in the beginning of the video, he uses that whole strafing maneuver to avoid the Reaper, and it doesn't ever catch him. Apparently, it's an old, but useful trick people have discovered in the game, which shows that Reapers aren't nearly as agile as you think, and it's fairly easy to avoid them if you're smart about it. And if you keep strafing around in circles long enough, the game's AI for the Reaper will eventually have it lose interest in you and continue it's patrol for a short while.

Could you do a crabsquid observatory? I always liked the sounds they make (which would make a better roommate than this one lmao)

I did this. It really lags the game alot when building and when loading the save. It has real issues with rendering when you're in the cloud barrier around the island.

These bases are always really cool. I also really like the biome descriptions you have in your video descriptions! They're very well put together and nice to read.

I have been traumatized by the reaper leviathan, and I didn't even get attacked. I just heard it's roar in the distance and since it uses echolocation, it knew exactly where I was. I knew that I should run and not look behind me, so that's exactly what I did. Edit: I killed two.

Reaper screaming right next to you when out of water: 16:19 Reaper in water but a few meters away: 10:14

I once built a cage made of corridors and vertical connectors around the reaper by the gun, and then had an observatory drop into the middle of it. Fun times.

This is why I live in the lava zone so I don’t hear reapers yelling at 2:00 in the morning

I found this channel awhile ago and KZread brought it to me again. Very underrated channel.

I like how you just casually watch the reaper as it passes through your body after jumping from the water

This was cool as hell - and so so funny. Watching the leviathan's programming break and it swim above the surface to find you is hilarious. This wouldn't have occurred to me but I think its awesome!

I think the Reaper Leviathan is more scarier than the others

Seeing the reaper right next to the base really gives you perspective on how big these guys actually are

Currently I’ve killed 7 of the 25 reapers that spawn in game. Wish me luck on eradicating these pests boys.

Thanks! You actually inspired me to build my own! I figured seeing a reaper every 10 seconds and living so close to them would help me be less scared. And it worked!

I built a base around there before I ever saw my first Reaper Leviathan. It was a bit of a surprise when I realised that they actually live in the area.

I had no idea it was even possible for reapers to come up to the surface. Now I'm terrified to ever play again.

And i felt badass that i built an observatory in below zero that is close to the leviathan by the purple vents.. man this is AWESOME! I gotta do that too but i thought I'd try that on the backside of the Aurora

To be honest Reapers are actually very Beautiful Creatures. Their biology is so interesting, No gills but a fish like creature that means it breathes air. Effectively blind and the only way they can know what's around them is by roaring that's just fascinating to me. There's also something we don't know about the reapers that live around the Aurora. We don't know where they live, What I'm trying to say is we don't know what their habitat looked like, That means it could be up to interpretation on where these creatures thrive. There's so much about reapers that will never know that's why I liked them so much. Always loved the reapers always will.
