#Submarine #Comparison
Total submarine fleet strength by naval power.
The modern attack submarine is capable of sea- and land-attack through conventional and nuclear means. Beyond their most obvious uses, submarines can be used in support of special forces operations and reconnaissance work. Many modern world navies utilize the submarine, primarily as a deterrent element in territorial waters with most modern, notable forces keeping a standard fleet of about five or more boats.

    It is reasonable to interpret the North's nuclear submarine as meaning an SSB equipped with nuclear warheads and ballistic missiles, and as North Korea's official announcement has always been, it is confusing its opponents with vague expressions and falsehoods. However, it seems true that efforts are being made to increase the weight and range of ballistic missiles mounted on SSBs and to increase the quietness of the platform, and even conventional submarines, North Korea's strength in ballistic missiles, including South Korea, is not satisfactory. It is also true that the ultimate counter for this is a nuclear submarine.

    @Tdan Kendros diesel submarines have to surface from time to time though, since their diesel engines can't run underwater and they run on electric motors instead, which have to be recharged by the diesel engine. Meanwhile, a nuclear sub can stay underwater and drive around as much as it wants forever (until the crew starves to death)

  • @destroyer1667

    @destroyer1667

    3 жыл бұрын

    @Tdan Kendros while Diesel submarines, when running on battery power, are more quiet than nuclear ones, this doesn't matter that much since more modern nuclear subs are incredibly quiet aswell. Combined with the tradeoff of immediately being detected once they have to recharge their batteries, this makes nuclear subs preferable for nearly any kind of long term mission

  • @dysfunctionalorange

    @dysfunctionalorange

    3 жыл бұрын

    @Tdan Kendros the only problem is the nuclear sub will sit 4000 miles off the coast for 2 months, and within minutes of that diesel boy surfacing will have multiple tridents on the way, before it could submerge it would be struck by multiple missiles and preceded to quickly sink

  • @dysfunctionalorange

    @dysfunctionalorange

    3 жыл бұрын

    @Tdan Kendros there’s these neat things called radar, and satellites, and awacs, which would not only identify the only protruding object in the middle of the ocean, but help to more accurately guide the missile towards its target

  • @dysfunctionalorange

    @dysfunctionalorange

    3 жыл бұрын

    @Tdan Kendros and a modern nuclear sub could launch a missile from one side of the us and hit a target on the other side and still have a few hundred miles to spare, so I don’t think that diesel electric sub will be able to detect it half way across the ocean, no matter how loud the nuclear sub is

    Can't really determine submarine strengths based on numbers alone. It would have been much more accurate to include the various types and age of the boats. Note that a single Virginia class would be able to decimate the entire N. Korean fleet of subs. It's also necessary to look at the crews ability and hear the U.S. and Japan would have a marked advantage over the other nations sailors. Nice graphics though.
