Bill, love your channel and music, an endless source of inspiration. I'm about to splurge some hard saved pennies on a delay pedal. I really want to get the best bang for the buck, and 'Frippertronics' style SOS is top of my requirements list. I was thinking about the Strymon Volante for this very reason as it builds on the El Capistan, but seeing your Grand Canyon demo and this beautiful performance with the pitch mode has given me pause to think. Seems like the Grand Canyon could lend itself to different styles of ambient guitar performance. Help me Bill!

Well, it sort of depends on what you want to achieve, really. Stymon sure makes excellent pedals, no doubt about it! Very HiFi, very polished. But having owned the Stymon Flint and the (spiritual) predecessor of the Grand Canyon: The Stereo Memory Man with Hazarai (which I still have and love to this day), I found the EHX alot more inspirational. (I know, I know, apples and oranges here. But hear me out) With the Hazarai (same as with the Grand Canyon) I can pick any delay type and make a loop with it. Then play it at half speed, overdub using a different delay type and speed it up again. Or heck, I might even play it back in reverse! This leads to very unique sounds and is tons of fun! Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Stymon (I kinda miss the Flint and might pick one up someday)... It's just that I think these multi Delay pedals by EHX are like instruments within their own right. Anyway, I hope this helps. Take care!

Hi ! Great demo and love your channel ! I’ve got one too and wonder about this pitch part.. normally octaver must be in front of fx chain. So my question is : do you put it in fx loop or direct in the chain ? (I use it for solos with fuzz) Thx 🙏

I would just put the Octaver direct into the effects chain. For me, it is typically 1) compressor, 2) overdrive/distortion, 3) octaves/pitch shifter.

Chords Of Orion yeah , I’m just getting my pedals and equipment all sorted , got to buy more pedals , I do however have a tc - helicon Voicelive extreme 3 which is proprietary and has its limitations, I’m going to see what I can get from that effects pedal, when I get stuff down to where I can record I’ll for sure share my musical ideas of what I come up with , hopefully it will be as imaginative and original as what your doing 👍😊!
