Sublimating black tumblers. How to get the best results

The struggle is real when it comes to sublimating dark tumblers especially with black as the primary color.
I decided to do a little experiment so I can figure out what changes I need to make so I can get the results I want with black tumblers.
This was a huge help for me. I sure hope this will be of great help to others as well who have the same struggles.
Life is too short. Craft it well!

Have a heat press nation press. All my blacks are coming out perfect. I do 350degrees w seam down at bottom for 50 seconds, turn seam to 1 side for 20 seconds, turn to other side for a last 20 seconds. Peel tape immediately but wait 10ish seconds more before removing paper. I tape 4 short pieces sideways on seam, pulling TIGHT. (Middle, both ends, 1 in between ea. Totalling 5 short pieces. Run long piece TIGHTLY down seam. Run my nail on either side of the overlap. Tape around top and bottom pulling TIGHTLY. Been perfect every time

Thank you for your demonstration. Heat, pressure, taping, all are key factors in getting the right mix. I appreciate your efforts. They are all beautiful and black is a hard color to work with.

Great Video. The problem I have with black or very dark colors is when I print I have the roller lines on the print. So aggravating. I'm watching materials. I've tried different settings and still have a problem. At this point I just can supplement dark tumblers

I am trying a design with a dark purple background on a 20oz Tumbler. The color came out darker at the bottom and top (about half an inch) of the tumbler than the sides. Do you have any advice? * I did use #4 method in the press.

The last one looks the best with color because it had the less pressure, you don’t have to have firm pressure with sublimation - you just have to make sure there is no air

@@freckledncrafty also less pressure also eliminates the pesky tape marks and also sometimes when the color looks lighter in places it’s actually paper that stuck to it, if you wash with a soapy warm water and sponge that will come off 💜

To adjust your pressure,,, you should have a cold press, with a clean piece of sub paper and also a piece of blowout paper,, also.. you shouldn't be using parchment if you can avoid it... ( parchment holds moisture), use craft paper,,, then,,, you pull the BO paper to see if it pulls EVENLY... you don't know if each side is the same because of the way you adjusted... also...... don't do the seam at top and bottom,, do the 3 oclock and 9 oclock position... I think you are awesome but these are some tips and tricks that might help make things better for you... you are pleasant to watch and I subscribed and look forward to more.. :) ( and only trying to help you! :) ((10 years of experience and I love finding new people that have a great on screen presence so I can share them with my group :) )

Why did you clean your tumbler’s with alcohol wipes? Then put your hands all over them? Your finger tips have oil in them. I tape tight on the sides, top and bottom. Then I tape all of those again with baking paper on all sides. I don’t use my tumbler press because I have a big air fryer with balcony doors that does a better job. I put two in each time, cook for 3 minutes, turn them over and cook for another 3 at 185C. I have never had a tumbler with ghosting or bleeding because I watched the best wrapping person I have ever seen before I started. I prefer to use my tumbler press to do two coffee mugs at a time. It works better on porcelain. I watched this to see how black works because I have never wanted to try it. I think you got it when you started to turn your tumblers over and noticed your press wasn’t even. That was a good fix. I really don’t think you needed to turn the last one so many times. The biggest difference was just in the wrapping. You taught me to know my equipment is the main part and I do. Thank you.

The title of this should be changed to "How to wrap a tumbler." I fail to see what this has to do with sublimating BLACK tumbler. You are basically showing HOW to wrap a tumbler which applies to any tumbler no matter what color. Usually uneven color of black is due too much heat applied or not cooked long enough where you get the brown instead of black or over cooked where you get the green.
