The most interesting would be the different in how they drive, how smooth the suspension is etc.

OK vid ‘cept I got lost when you switched to the Outback. Also wasn’t as clear which vehicles you were referring to after that point. FYI - I recently got a new 2020 Outback.

Is the dual mode x-mode snow and mud setting essentially the same as x-mode with the traction control turned off?

My wife’s car is a 19 Outback, Cinnamon brown with Ivory interior . My car is a Forester Touring, Sephia Bronze with Brown leather interior. My wife’s Outback only has 20K miles and my Forester has only 4,700 miles. I wrote this message 12/22.

I love my 2019 outback. But last week the gas station attendant didn’t replace the gas cap tightly and it took one week and 125 miles to auto reset the engine light. When the engine light comes on it disables eye sight and cruise control. Design flaw if you ask me and unacceptable. Especially if on a road trip.

ekim andersom Not my point. 1) loose gas cap shouldn’t throw safety equipment in malfunction. 2) dealer said don’t bring it in it will reset itself.

I have a 2019 outback limited. I'm looking for car seat covers & I found a set I like but it's for a 2019 forester. My question is are the seats & their dimensions the same? Or should I not risk it?

Big difference from 2018. If I had purchased in 2019 instead of 2018, I would have purchased the 2019 Forester. Main reason for my 2018 Outback was cargo space and low roof line for loading a canoe...

A visibility it's very important to me when it comes to safety , because my kids will be the ones riding in this vehicle more often so I will probably will go for the forester

Ive had no problem with visibility even in sports coupes. Are you saying you need a high up SUV to drive safely and observe whats around you ? Just wondering.

I have an outback. The forester’s existence confuses me. Why build a second car that’s basically identical to a car you already make?

Um, the 2020 versions are now available for each. Plus, the '20 Outback is all new. Guess they are trying to move the '19s off the lot with vids featuring old inventory.

Actually, almost all of the 2019s in the States are already sold and 2020 versions are the only ones available as New. This video is therefore obsolete for new vehicles and at this point is a guide for used vehicles. And Americans (this is a Colorado dealer after all) don't really care about older ROW vehicles when there are US spec 2020 versions of available right now.

Anybody know why some Foresters have a black trim around the rear emblem and others don't? Is that optional?

Seems like most SUV's are just glorified cars now. I have a 2005 Outback and I mount Thule bars on the roof rack and haul 16' kayaks with no problem. It has hooks underneath the front and rear to attach lines to. So now the Outback has a stupid "solid" roof rack with swing out bars that are so close together as to be useless for long items. No way to attach my Thule bars that I can see. OK, so the Forester is the actual SUV right? Well the roof rack looks like I could attach my rack to it. Ok what about hooks for front and rear lines - from what I read there is none and people are doing a kludge with putting straps under the hood and using the rear tow hook sticking out of the left side of the bumper? You still see ads for Subaru showing people doing "outdoorsy" things and show boats on the roof but they are really just cars. Guess I will keep my 2005 (hope it doesn't die on me).

The new Forester is a sad reflection on society and its obsession with the current SUV trend. Its styled to appeal to school run mums etc. The Outback is the better option in my opinion. Its a no nonsense traditional Subaru. Fashion shouldn’t come into it. Most people choose cars these days for vanity reasons.

Subarus can’t compare to, say, Toyota/Lexus where their whole model lineup is reliable. But particular models of brands can be reliable of all sorts of car: Forresters are pretty reliable.
