THANK YOU. QuiteAlright: You are much better than Subaru Users Manual. My steps for Outback 2005: FIRST YOU HAVE TO ACTIVATE PROGRAMMING MODE Open and close the door. Plug the key in ignition. FAST. Turn the key 10x ON and OFF. FAST. Now turn the key ON. Key is ON - but the instrument panel went dark. Beep beep beep Open and close the door. YOU ARE IN PROGRAMMING MODE. If you do not feel that you are - do everything again. It took me at least 5 times, before computer accepted me as a friend. Don’t give up! NOW YOU HAVE TO INPUT THE 8-digit ID CODE OF YOUR REMOTE TRANSMITTER. Using lock/unlock button on the driver’s door. Fast. Input your digits first time. Then again - the second time. Beep beep beep System will Lock/Unlock all doors. That means System accepted the code of your Remote. Remove ignition key. FAST. Open and close the door. FAST. That's it. You just programmed new key fob to Subaru. If you feel that computer does not see you as a friend - you have to repeat the procedure. It took me maybe 5 times. That’s computers’ nature 😉 When you feel that you are computer’s friend, now test the new Transmitter. For me it didn’t work the first time; nor the second time. But eventually new Transmitter was able to Open/Close the door. That’s computers’ nature 😉 QuiteAlright: thank you again. GOOD JOB.

For anyone struggling with this it does in fact work and this is the correct procedure for these years. I used the same Amazon fob as he does with the same code. Some tips would be make sure the ignition is LEFT ON. I kept leaving it off after the 10 cycles. Don’t forget both door openings before and after the ignition cycles. When you did it correctly the locks will click to locked to confirm. After you can turn the key off. Wait 5 seconds and open the door.

Thanks 🙏👍 the best tutorial for this purpose! Took me 5-6 tries, but I did it! I think that it's crucial to be quick with rotating the key. Once the car enters in programming mode you know, and only have to open and close the door again. Then you can take it slow with adding the digits. After you enter the code once the car lets you know! Then you add it one more time and you'll hear a locking sound! That's the confirmation that the new key is added. I actually messed up adding the code correctly the first time and had to try a few more times to enter in programming mode again... But now it's done. Thanks again

I have a manual. I have a jumper wire in the harness that plugs into that neutral switch on the clutch pedal so I can start the car without the clutch being pressed in as I will be hooking up remote start before the winter. I have followed all the programming steps over 10 times and the beeps and lights blink and everything like it should but when I press any button on the remote it doesn’t do anything

08 Outbacks have integrated key/fobs

I was able to program one remote with no problem... But I have another fob with a different code and it won't let me complete the sequence before th doors start locking. Is there another step for programming two fobs for one car?

Hi, sorry to hear you are having problems. I'm not familiar with other way to program the fobs, maybe try calling the dealer and see if they would test the fob for you for free

Why didn’t your doors cycle the locks when you confirmed the code? Every other video I watch of this you can hear the locks lock and unlock

So his remote number is the same as mine????? Haven't been able to get mine to work. Trying so many times my lock/unlock button stops working. WTF

Do you have a link to the key fob you used?

What is usually do to get the right key fob for any vehicle: 1. Call Dealer with vehicle VIN number and asking for the quote on the key fob and asking for part # 2. I cross reference the part # online and see which key fob exactly I need 3. Then I buy where is the cheapest (usually amazon or ebay)

where i can find the codes if i lost all keys

New key fobs will come with codes. You can get those cheap online. Or you can try calling the Subaru dealer with your VIN number, they might be able to help you out
