You didn't mention updating the firmware on the head unit, and the process to do it via WiFi or the Aha app. It seems Subaru releases a new version about once a year.

Thank you for this video. I have a 2018 Outback and my Bluetooth connection beeps constantly making listening unbearable. To try to fix this, I disconnected my bluetooth and am using carplay and a cord. But, when I am turning my car off, the radio blares (not sure how to disable it) and the bluetooth beeping resumes. My carplay also randomly calls people on my favorites list. Is this a dealer issue, do you think? Thank you

Me too… just got a 24 crosstrek wilderness. It drops my audio during calls. This seems to be a widespread issue, but my dealer is just sweeping it under the rug. They gave me an Impreza for a loaner, same exact head unit, no issues at all. I feel like the head unit needs replacing. So disappointing, so frustrating. This should be covered under my warranty but they claim they’re still unable to recreate the issue when they drive it.

@@finngoulart5494 that’s my dealerships MO “sorry sir we can’t recreate your issue” I used to have a 2014 that would random die in traffic. Never found out the issue no matter how many times I brought it in and wasted my time.

This did NOT work on my 2023 Subaru😡

The factory reset actually works on all my devices but not on subaru. It resets the computer in the subaru but not the media, your bluetooth phone remains connected, Android auto, Apple auto apps remains intact. I wanted to factory reset so the android app will uninstal but it is still there.

Terrible as this fact is, there exist USB cables which only charge but do not carry data to sync mobile devices. Thankfully they are few and far between.

Shouldn't be for every day.. this is just once in a blue moon. If an issue persists, dealers can do further diagnosis and replacement if needed

FYI, Cheap wire doesn’t transfer data only charge.

Regarding the cord. Rub a pencil eraser over the metal contacts on both sides, then use a little rubbing alcohol. Make sure the connector is dry before re-inserting. Many times, just the pencil eraser is enough to clean the oxidized metal on the connector.

Hi, I haven’t experienced this. Definitely something a technician at the dealership should have a look at. Good luck!

FDR never is recommended it uninstalls firmware and can cause farther bugs dealership even told me never do that.

Why does it works with every other phone except mine ?

2021 forester, tried this,got a new cord, still does not work.

@@DanielKwetny Its awful. Connect maybe 20% of the time (once connected it stays connected, but if it doesn't connect at start of the drive then I have to restart the phone). The Toaster Slot... um I mean the wireless charger is also terrible. Worse then one I bought at the dollar-store.

@@scarkner I just bought a 2024 Outback and driving home on a 6 hour drive last night it disconnected at least 3 times on me. The last time it did, I rebooted the phone and didn't have any more issues. I have an iphone 6. I wish I could just use a cable. I don't think it's your Subaru, I think it's your phone.

My usb ports dont work at all tried switching fuses and checking the plugs and just nothing womt even charge my phone.

Anything plugged into the cigarette lighter socket? Maybe there’s an overdraw there. Could be worth checking with the dealership, may be a cheaper fix

Brand of cable DOES matter. Cheap cables dont have data transfer capabilities

It is ridiculous They said they had to update the eyesight And I got my car back totally screwed

CarPlay works just fine on our old iPhone XR and 11. When we connect an iPhone 13, 14 pro or 14 pro max the Ascent never connects for Apple CarPlay. The connection also doesn’t seem to properly charge the device connected to it. Just had the firmware updates by Subaru and still no luck. Any thoughts on why a 13 or 14 won’t recognize?

My Outback 2018 never once worked with Android auto. The head unit would crash ~once a week or twice. They never really were able to fix that nor did updates do anything. They were that I complained, that, yes. I traded the Subaru in for a 22 Toyota Prius , and must say the electronics there works extremely well. Positively astonishing. So, all the best of luck with the Subaru thing there.

I haven't experienced this.. could be an issue with the headhunt itself.. it's possible. If your Subie is less than 3 years old, this should be covered by warranty. Recommend to contact the service department and have it diagnosed
