Tip for all the guys who are new top cars, if you don’t have the 1000’s of dollars in tools this guy does. Just loosen the cat back portion, and use a 2” bore drill to take out the cat. Leave the exhaust unhooked, start the car to clear the pipe, and you’re solid.

good video, I'm going to do this with my forester, the check engine doesn't matter because here from 2005 onwards they pass with the check engine

2013 Impreza I’ve done same and took the manifold cat delete and straight pipe with nameless exhaust. Now car is extremely loud 😮 is it best to put back just back side cat back on to reduce the sound? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Since you removed the guts and everything that was holding the heat, was the heat shielding necessary? Any chance you checked the temperature of the pipe after installation?

The light came on and keeps bouncing back and forth with p0160 and p0138. Didn't do this before the cat went recently.

Yes, this will cause the down stream O2 sensor to throw a code. But, dumby sensors are available to trick the PCM into thinking the Catalyst is still there and functioning.

I did something simulare with my 2010 forester. The rear cat was bad and I banged it out with a rod so it's streight through now. But I get a P138 code now and the check engine lite keeps coming on. Is there a trick to keep that from happening?

There is a O2 sensor extension pipe you can find it on the eBay or Amazon I recommend get that one with the curve with 90 degree elbow. And this "modification" it's for off-road use only

@@kasparabel5025 No reason to reprogram it if it's naturally aspirated. If you are curious about the check engine light you can get a 90 degree elbow that moves the O2 sensor out of the path of the exhaust fooling the computer into thinking you have a cat. Car will run perfectly fine after that with no engine light. Done it on a VW and a Subaru with the same result. Those little elbows need enough room to fit but they are inexpensive.
