We were poor in the early 90s because we had moved as refugees and left everything behind and only gradually collected more stuff as my parents worked and saved up. So to get us started, my mom's coworkers gave her a bunch of their old stuff for our home. It was amazing mid-century stuff in a mishmash of colors, including one of those old, old televisions that came inside a wooden box/credenza-like thing and would take a few seconds for the picture to come on. Looking back, it's like the chicest thing ever! I have a frame TV now and it just could never reach that level of chic ;)

In Spain we have a wall-mounted drying rack mounted to the wall over the sink (high enough that you don't hit your head when doing dishes... imagine like the hood over an oven), and the rack has a slotted bottom to it so the drips drip into the sink. Pretty good design for space and preventing water from going everywhere.

I’m so with you on having stylish utility items in the home. I never use sponges, just microfibre cloths, but they fit in an open shelf of the same colour. Dish cloths can be washed hot, so I use a fresh one every day. If they have little holes I darn them, because this particular green is no longer produced. Much more sustainable and probably more hygienic than sponges.

I like the Chicobag Sling over the Baguu. I live in San Francisco and not only have to carry everything a mile, it’s a mile uphill. It holds an entire grocery bag and the real selling point for me is that it’s crossbody which distributes weight and bulk so much easier. It has a built in stuff sack with a drawstring so you don’t have to try to fold it up like a Baguu. I don’t leave home without it.

Those drying racks are great, my apartment in Finland had a whole drying cupboard above the sink so I'd just wash things, put them in the rack above the sink, and close the doors! I ended up not getting it because I couldn't justify the price to myself but I have been obsessed with it for years. I ended up getting a decent looking normal TV and mounting it on an TV easel which ended up looking super cool. @@goosegirl941 it’s a little smaller. 30 L which is about 8 gallons. It’s been working really well for me! The simple human can liners in size H are a great fit for it too.

my take on bathroom trashcans - please please please get a trashcan with a lid. It always weirds me out when people have an open trash bin in the bathroom since all sorts of things go in it 😳 on an unrelated note - I can't remember where I heard this quote but it has always stuck with me and I think it resonates with this video: "Your home is the movie set for the story that is your life"

I used thinner ikea curtains as my shower curtains and hung them up real high! Second shower rod with the liner. Works really well!

ikea has goooood stepping stools - some are made of unfinished wood and you can paint whatever you want on them, but the best thing is that they are super stable - i have very tall ceilings and my stuff is often up, so they're crucial to me lol they also have the hultarp drying rack, you can put it on the wall and there are different color versions

The tv is legit. Everyone has the frame one and the other takes the good elements of vintage tvs but in a modern way. Obsessed.

Hi Page, I can finally add something to your video. In my house, instead of buying bath mats we use table mats/place mats. You can find much cuter ones, they are already waterproof and usually come in a set so you can replace them when washing or get damaged. However they tend to be small so it's just the size of the feet. Love your content!!

GIRL! I've also been lobbying for the Serif TV (based just on style, no idea how good it is as a TV). I feel so validated.

I have the weird Samsung TV and it is absolutely wonderful. You just can't get around TVs being an obtrusive feature of your home. The Samsung Frame option is great but I think it's a bit too on-the-nose in trying to conceal a TV, whereas the Serif makes it a funky sculptural "piece" (lol) that is very pleasing to the eye. I also think placing a regular TV on a vintage, paint-splattered art easel is a good option too!
