Beautiful boat! On the self righting - the Sonicwake method of filling on one side works wether the motor is running or not. So if you flip and say the battery comes loose or something, it still self rights. Which could save a boat if it started taking on water through the lid etc. Also just wish they’d put the nicer trim tabs on all of em. Super cheap but helpful upgrade. Thanks for the great content as always!

There’s a button too apparently for the self-righting. Not sure why, the throttle blip worked perfectly every time.

Awesome boat

It fantastic to finally see HH's ProBoat division finally listening to customers. Their Axial & Losi/TLR divisions have done a great job listening to customers (wish I could say the same about their Arrma & Spektrum divisions), but other recent ProBoat releases (ie. recent releases before the SonicWake V2) showed that ProBoat wasn't listening. For example, the Blackjack 42 is a bit of a 'joke'. Whomever was in charge of the SonicWake & Recoil V2 projects is "on the mark". Maybe this person can be (or, maybe, already is) working on a V2 of the Blackjack 42 (ie. get rid of the crappy Lexan hull). As for the Recoil V2, it's "calling my name".

Very nice boat. I have the original yellow Recoil and love it too. I believe this new one is set up where you flip a switch on the radio and it self rights but clearly you can still use the trigger as well. Nice feature.

Dude that thing looks awesome! I’ve never really been into Rc boats, the only one I’ve ever really looked at was the Traxxas M41 but Your making me want to get into boats with this thing

love this boat! always liked the first recoil.... If i want to take this in the ocean to rip through waves, it's going to get saltwater inside, just hose with fresh water inside right after the run / shoot fresh water through water in-take? any other tips? in the past the salt destroyed my motor etc ( no surprise of course) but that was a $150 boat and fun to lost parts was worth it. thanks!

Arrow 5 from udirc is a better option with the same quirks

Do you wd-40 or oil the motor? I do it in my Sonicwake v2 but I don’t see a place to do it on this motor.

It's cool enough to make a land guy into a water guy ! But I wanta be an air guy before I jump in the water .

I tried to be an air guy. I spent weeks building a balsa plane and was left with a pile of toothpicks 2 minutes into the first flight. 😣

Was the handling darty with the stock battery or the larger 5000mah?

New to boats, Im thinking about getting the new v2 as my first boat / plane reteiver. Does this boats have reverse?

What is the worst boat you have tested? Just curious. I know you get them for free to do promotion videos. Do you feel like you get enough time on them to get a real review? Or is it just a 1 orb2 battery test?

Worst boat I ever tested was a CEN nitro boat. I have a lake 3 minutes from my house so it’s easy to get a bunch of running in.

Im definitely ordering one asap. I have a scx base camp and a senton. Both use the spektrum batteries and electronics. Was going to go with the sonicwake because of the spektrum insides and connectors. But was on edge about the size of it. Was looking more for stealthwake size but brushless. THIS IS IT!! Even comes with a spektrum battery. My question is what was your average run time with that battery it comes with? I have the 3s 5000 packs

I have a problem of never actually getting full runs in. I’m always starting and stopping to shoot some sort of video or photo. Guessing over 10 minutes on the 5000. Seemed like I was out there for a while.

@@rolandomota7971 I ran two packs back to back. First the stock pack then the 5000. Temps were fine, but always good to monitor. Keep an eye on the water exit port to make sure you see the water going through the system.

the price of $369 for a boat that size seems a bit to steep when you can pick up a traxxas Spartan or M41 for about $300 on marketplace.

The power noticeable drops off when the battery runs low, it doesn’t just stop. When you see the power drop, you bring it right to shore. If you decide to keep running it after the power drop, then yes you may need to retrieve it. In small ponds I just bring a fishing pole with a bobber and weight to retrieve it.

It's a real nice boat but the price here in Hungary is 209 000 HUF so about 575 usd and for a smaller size noname boat it's quite high up also the battery is quite expensive for it too 47000 huf it overshadows evne the traxxas spartan price which is 192 000 "only" also even the traxxas batteries are cheaper here 3s 5000 mah traxxas is 29170 huf the same size battery for this is near double.

It doesn’t just die, the power level noticeably drops indicating to the user to bring it back to shore. As long as it’s in a normal running range you’ll have enough power to get back. If you decide to ignore the power drop, then, well hopefully you brought a Kayak. 😁

Looks a nice boat,only problem is the electrics i don't like spectrum at all,it feels like horizon hobbies is forcing every company they own to put their stuff in there are better electronics out there and they will never do kits,all the companies they own builders kits are getting less and less

Technically yes, but salt water makes the metals rust. So you would need to immediately dry and treat any metals that may rust. It’s just better to use in fresh water.

Love the boat and thanks for another good vid. Do you think we hobbyists also have a responsibility over the wildlife/environment and not just other people's safety and convenience? I just feel bad for all the fish etc. listening to that in the water, and the possibility of some being injured as we do with full size boats... Don't mean to be a buzz kill, but this really is a concern I ponder over... RC sailboats are neat, but not as exciting as powered. Cheers

I think that electric RC boating is extremely low in impacting the environment as in not even registering a concern. RC boating is not an everyday occurrence. The environment is threatened daily, hourly, by the minute by many other harms. People, real boats, oils/gas/exhaust from real boats. People going in the water, people going in the water covered in chemicals such as makeup and lotions. Hunting/ fishing and so on. RC Boats typically run on the very surface of the water and it’s just a small area that is in the water, the chances of an incident would be extremely rare.

I swear this pond you were at is on a fishing game on steam. Imho, this boat is priced $100 too high. Also the weight on the motor is a horrible idea. More mass on a spinning part is NOT what you want. The bancroft rocket 26 is $140 less with similar features and performance RTR. Not as good of a boat but easier on the wallet.

Wltoys makes a cool one $120
