As a stutterer, I used to be a walking Thesaurus. I would always have another word that would work, instead of forcing myself to work on that word.

Thank you for your video! I’ve finally found out that the type of stutter I deal with most is the blocks. Like other comments say, whenever I know I’m going to get stuck on a word I INSTANTLY change it to something else but similar meaning. I also have this awful habit of when I speak to people (that don’t know I stutter) and get stuck on a word I’ll literally pause and pretend like I can’t think of the word so they’ll say it for me. But anyways... it’s really nice to see a video like this.

I have a stutter and I do not like it, but I have learnt to live with it, I am only 13. I have a block stutter and I just want to speak normally, but I am an extrovert and very chatty luckily stuttering doesn't hold me back, but I am still VERY conscious of it and it is there, and I have anxiety because of it. So to people who have stutters just be yourself and don't keep quiet because of your stutter, and if you stutter you might be annoyed but people don't notice it as much as you think they do! This will sound really cheesy but let's all embrace our differences!!!

I have the same issue. I have been stuttering my whole life. I’m 28, and I still stutter. I had speech therapy in elementary school, junior high, and high school. The problem is that I never really took in the information I was given. I have looked at many videos on how to control stuttering, and I’m trying to find the technique that works for me. I work in a grocery store, and I stutter there, primarily because there’s some stress involved. Stress and anxiety do increase stuttering. I’ve been working on slowing down in stressful situations

Getting into a routine in which I felt comfortable helped tremendously. Getting any kind of stress factor out of your life is a plus as well. I’ve given up trying to work for a job in which I have to deal with the general public. I’ve been working in a warehouse the past year and oddly enough I love it. I made friends with pretty much everyone I work with and that just makes it all the better. Lately I’ve really noticed a different in my fluency as well. Good luck!!

I think stuttering is caused by a traumatic event between the ages of 2-7. As a Clinical Hypnotherapist I have found the cause of 100% of my clients. anything from a dog barking in a child's face, to a child seeing some one get shot. This is the spectrum that I have worked with. If any one has any questions about finding the cause of your stutter, please let me know. I think if you can find the cause, you can get to the cure. Thank you for your time

For me I just don't care what everyone else says/thinks about my stuttering , back in high school I used to care a lot about what would people say , I've skipped a lot of classes/presentations , didn't go to any parties/family occasions , didn't really have friends , I used to just shut myself in my room , and Arabic " as my first language " has a lot of stupid letters that come out from down of your throat . So basically my life was actual hell , and all of that because I cared too much about what would people say or think of me , but when I went to college I decided to change everything , and I mean everydamnthing lol , starting from the way I think to the way I act , I just don't give a fuck about people , they can't hurt you in any way until u let them , so what I'm trying to say is STOP CARING ABOUT EVERYONE ELSE . So basically my stuttering improved like 70%-80% , I used to stutter in pretty much every sentence but now I can finish a whole conversation without stuttering .

+xNoMeRcy1 i can relate to that, like you, Arabic is my first language, letters like "ق" and "ع" are my worst nightmares lol. i started stuttering at the age of 11 (5 years ago), at the time i had already finished elementary school. it was the summer before my first year in middle school. when i was in elementeray school (before i started stuttering) i was one of the most known kids in my school, i would volunteer in every school project, and i was the best when it comes to reading, i was teachers' favourite student... but then all of a sudden i started stuttering. i tried to ignore it at first, but it put me in many embarrassing situations. i didn't volunteer in anything anymore. and i hated reading, i would try to hide behind the desk or pretend im busy when teachers ask "who wants to read..." to the point where barely any teacher knows my name. it's just frustrating. but hey, at the end of the day, we have to be thankful for what we have, we might stutter while talking, but there are people out there who wish they could even speak. everyone has problems, don't let your problems define you, they can't effect you unless you let them. stay strong 👊

+khaled exactly , those two letters are the ones I had problems with , but believe me what you're doing right now is soo wrong , hiding behind your desk and all that , I wish someone had told me that when I was your age , stuttering is nothing to be ashamed of , just live your life normally .

This is an old video but I also am someone who stutters. Recently, my blocks have been getting worse and talking has been quite tiring for me.

I don’t think it’s uncommon to feel that way. For me, the severity of my stutter has gone through waves over time. Do not give up!! Never feel discouraged enough that you can’t say what you need to say!

@@jddaniel2332 Yes, sadly mine fluctuates too. I think when I think about stuttering and focus on it or try to stop it, I tend to stutter more.. which is a period that I'm in right now. Oh well... Thanks for replying to my comment! Really makes me feel better.
