They had counted the wave sets, then after the biggest wave had broken, they had Lots of time to walk off. Here at Kaikoura, New Zealand our wave sets run at 5 or a 7 pattern.. Count and watch for about 5 minutes before launching the boat, save showing your self as a FOOL. Gsaves Damage to boat or man.. Mother Nature is ALL POWER FULL.

Looks like they were pretty smart about it and waited for the right moment to cross. I’m guessing they were the lighthouse crew so maybe it’s shift change for them.

These guys aren’t stupid they have timed the sets and watched it for a while. By walking they make sure they don’t get stuck out there helping someone injured.

Whomever posted this video must have misunderstood how stupid people typically behave in these situations. I saw four thoughtful people being aware of the dangers associated with large waves. If more stupid people behaved this way lives would be saved.

They're obviously RNLI or coastguard crew but cut him some slack, it's is a kid posting this stuff as far as I can tell from his profile. If you search The Whitby Photographer you'll see the rescue they were involved in.
