Today's adventure takes place in the wee town of Guatapé. A short hour or two bus ride from Medellín, it is a cute little town with a few well known attractions. The main event of today's video is the climb up La Piedra, essentially a rock that sits in the middle of a fairly flat water bound area.
Also known as El Peñon De Guatapé the rock is believed to be over 65 million years old! Its about 200m tall and I climbed just over 700 steps to reach the top. After staying a night in Guatapé we rose early in the morning to start the climb and beat the tour buses coming from the city. At the top I was greeted by stunning views and hundreds of flying insects! My little group of 3 were the only ones up there for quite a time which was sweet, aside from the swarm :') We were one of the first up so our early morning mission was a success!
The rest of the days adventure involved a wander around the town of Guatapé and another mini hike to viewpoint on the other side of town. It was a pretty awesome day! So I hope you enjoy the video, hope you're having a great day!
