Apologies for the lower-than-normal video quality. Keep in mind this was shot, edited and uploaded 2.5 years ago. My newer videos are a little better but regulars will know that I don't spend much time on videos as I'm too busy with repairs!

In my childhood I was already in love with electronics and my father had a friend engineer from Rhodia who had a Sansui AUX1, wonderful amplifier.

Love this era of Japanese audio, that is as beautiful as my Marantz SR14EX, lots of copper plating but not as strong in the chassis as the Marantz :) tu for the video.

Sometimes you can get lucky with these imports as some have a tap on the transformer for 240v operation, so conversion is a doddle (new fuse and line cord). Shame about the impact damage as it's possible the chassis ground may now be floating or compromised. Reminds me of something I read a while back, that even if the Twin Towers had remained standing on 9/11, they would've had to dismantle them down to bedrock due to them being thrown internally off-centre.

Hi Mike, Given this was shot 3 years ago and uploaded now, is there going to be a followup video getting it working?

Actually it was uploaded three years ago and just made public. The owner decided not to go ahead with repairs at the time, we chatted about it a couple of times since but he was nervous about this amp for few reasons, shipping damage being one of them. I’ll post an update if I ever see this one again!

Shipping this all the way from Japan and packing it in bubble wrap and a cardboard box... Geesh. Packing material is less expensive than the unit so why not do it properly?

I know and agree completely. Sadly, I see this a lot, fully insured shipping is also essential with anything like this.

How can someone buy this lovely piece and pack it-up with $2.00 of bubblewrap?!.

This was the seller's fault but absolutely agreed, packing and shipping something like this with bubble wrap is insane.

??? Why make video in which you haven't shown or done anything. Well, you actually did or may have done but if you shoot these vids do shoot as you go along the troubleshooting and actual steps why, what, where and for what reason, which modern replacements etc. I was really nicely surprised to see this video (by title) but I am rather disappointed with it's content.
