Thanks Anna! The 360 camera helps with some of those shots.

When I was at college we went up burn creek, over the emily peaks and down into the Nardoo basin and tramped out. That was in the 80s.

That’s sounds pretty epic. How steep were the tops around Emily Peak? They looked pretty steep to us.

The Burn Ck track has had a wee bit of marking by Graeme Coop and he's renovated the biv with BCT.

Another excellent vid, i always look forward to you guys posting a new one. What wizardry makes your selfie stick invisible in the footage though?

Thanks, Don. The bits where the selfie stick disappears are filmed using a 360 camera. It joins two images together, so you can delete out the bit where the selfie stick normally is.

Looks like some track-cutting has been done down the valley. I had 25 creek crossings a few years ago. That looks fun along that ridge, at least when the weather is good. A great, if energetic, weekend tramp. Inspiring video, team.

Thanks. The track to Nardoo was in pretty good shape, especially along the lower creek level. Definitely evidence of cutting and maintenance and well marked too.

I really enjoyed that chaps, thank you! Great track description and footage, especially on the tops, nice work following the old track and showing stream crossings. Beautiful bird song and music, splendid! 😊

Thanks for another informative and scenic video! We’ve recently moved to the Tasman area and your videos are quite the inspiration as we’re new to tramping. I’d love to know how you do the trick where the line moves along your route on the topo map.

Thanks, Greg. You're in a great place to get out tramping with Kahurangi, Nelson Lakes, and Richmond Ranges all so close. Just make the maps in PowerPoint. Nothing fancy.

Be nice to open that old track up again ah. Outstanding loop that is 👍

@@samandkevsoutdooradventures Just go and do it! No permission required. You can join up with Permolat if you want helpers. They have an email group so you can post for requests for volunteers to help you.

You had some top class videography in this one! I was particularly impressed at your drone-like shots (I assume you weren't flying drones in the NP)! Very creative! Can't wait to get up there myself.

Thanks, Adam. We are very careful about not using drones in National Parks. These were shot using a 360 camera. Hope you make it up there soon.

For this one we took tents and sleeping mats etc as the biv we were heading to only had two beds and there were other cars already in the car park. In the end the biv was empty but it meant for very full packs. It was also very cold once the sun went down so took extra warm clothes. Great trip though.

Hi Jessica, up to where you cross the Matakitaki River, yes it would be very easy to bike. A number of people take motorbikes/quad bikes further up the valley towards Downie Hut. From after crossing the river until you reach the DOC boundary it would still be possible, but not as easy as have to go through a few of the farmers paddocks (probably be a good idea to give the farmer a call also to make sure it would be alright)

Where do you get the older maps showing old redundant tracks. Are these electronic versions. I use the topo50 app

There is a link for the older map in the description. Unfortunately, it's not available on the topo50 app, though. We use that app also and think it's great.

Maps past has images of maps going back into the mists of time. Super easy to use and a real resource - thanks Matt Briggs (Madpom).
