Some of the Silkstones are WHITE. For instance, Walking Suit, That anniversary one with the striped black & white swimsuit, Debut, I think, and Blushing, and Mermaid,. Mattel should warn collectors. The original skin tones of Silkstones are already rather pale; why make them white???? I love my few Palm Beach Silkstones. Stunning in the Spotlight is indeed stunning, a doll I would want. I love everything about her, the microphone, her hair color and style, and her fabulous makeup! But when I studied her on the internet, various photos, she seemed white. I don't know, so I didn't go for her when she first came out. Now looking at yours, if she's white or not, I regret my decision. Thanks so much for this review. I think I'm jealous, or is it envious? Anyway, you have a very coveted Silkstone there, my dear. Within the last few months I got, Usherette, Showgirl, and Delphine all but Showgirl had been displayed. Her feathers had turned white but that does not detract from her outfit which sparkled like bling.

evimlck My guess to why most Silkstones are white as snow is because the Silkstone dolls are made to look like Porcelain dolls, even the they are made of hard plastic. So the ones that are made really white are probably made to look more expensive. I have also noticed some skin-tones on the Silkstone dolls have darkened over the years due to age. I’m sure my Stunning in the Spotlight’s skin tone was lighter back when she was released 10 years ago. I’m not a Barbie Expert and I’m sure a true Silkstone collector would have better knowledge of the skin-tones and materials uses to create these dolls. I don’t collect Barbies that much any more, but if I were to get any more Silkstone dolls, I would get “The Artist”, “The Shopgirl”, “Mermaid Gown”, “Blush and Gold”, “Tailored Tuxedo Ken” and maybe “Walking Suit”. Lol. I'm at that age where I think I'm becoming a hoarder. The Gene dolls take up the most room in my closet. I put a pile of several Gene dolls to eliminate and couple of Tonner dolls,. I think Joeslist has that Mermaid Gown, Tuxedo Ken for sale. The Doll Peddlar has the Tuxedo Ken and Blush and Gold. I always get my dolls on lay-away, but I'm not getting any more larger dolls. Someday I'll want Palm Beach Coral Silkstone Barbie. I have 5 of the other Palm Beach Silkstones. Sure nice conversing with you.
