Studying Master's Degree in NZ: different tracks and requirements | Pinoy scholars in NZ

Hi! Welcome to my channel.
Are you interested in taking a master’s degree in New Zealand? Are you curious whether what types of assessments are given for master’s students? If yes, then this video might help.
This video presented the two different paths in taking a master’s degree at The University of Auckland in New Zealand: research masters and taught masters. Based on my personal experience as a graduate of Master of Disaster Management, I’ve discussed the common assessments for a master’s degree (taught masters track). I also invited my friend Kath who took Master of Engineering (research masters track), to share her experiences from her study program.

Hello! Thank you so much for this video! It really gave a clear insight into what to expect between the two study options. I would include my question in the replies so this comment would not be too long.

I would love to study a taught Masters, but because I studied a Bachelors of Science degree, most of the Masters Degree that match my credentials are Research based. I just wanted to confirm if an individual would still have the flexibility to work part time while undertaking a Research Master's Program. Thank you! - I believe it's important to know because, the cost of living in NZ is extremely high and I would love to cover for that while studying. Thank you!!

@@AmarachiJacinth Hi! Yes, as long as you have a student visa and it's indicated that you are eligible to work while studying. My friend Kat who took the research masters path was able to work there too.

Hi po! I am a graduate of BS in Nursing and A registered nurse here in Philippines. Can I take my masters in New Zealand? Will the NZ council acknowledge my PH degree?

It’s very informative. Thank you so much for this video. ❤️ I am a graduate of BS in environmental management and recently I earned another diploma in disaster risk management. I am also planning to study in New Zealand for my masters degree. And it seems UoA is a great school for Disaster Management. 😊

Hi Paulo! Not really familiar with particulars sa PhD kasi masters yung sakin. But I think based sa mga kwento ng PhD friends ko ay halos lahat ng PhD ay may research component, kahit ung may lab and experiments may research pa din. Pero para sure you can visit yung website ng target university mo, usually may details doon ng tracks and reqts :)

Due to the nature of my job as a seafarer, I wondered if there's any exams for a research masters..I'm a mechanical engineering bachelor degree holder.

Hi, Bob. I think as long as the course you'll pursue is related to your bachelor's degree, plus points if you have mech eng related work exp as well.

Hi Rey. Apologies for I am not familiar with the requirements of that course. Usually, you need to have a related bachelor's and work exp. To be sure, please check the website of the university you're aiming. Thanks!
