Hey! My name is Hafu Go and I'm a dreamer. For the past year, I made it my life mission to study patterns of success for students. I traveled across the world to interview students from top schools like Harvard, MIT, and Stanford. I was born in China and went to elementary school there. But when I was 9 I moved to Canada. So I wanted to go back to China to experience the high school life. Chinese high school students are top students in the world and this video will reveal why.

As a Chinese student who has completely experienced this kind of high school life, I would like to say that although this learning mode can indeed enable students to obtain high scores in a short period of time, we have given up a lot, such as practical ability, communicative ability, physical fitness level... We are constantly writing homework every day, just for an exam. Now that I am in college, I found that many aspects of my life are very bad. For example, I am not good at communicating with people, and I cannot play various sports and musical instruments. This learning mode wastes my time to learn social knowledge healthily, and I hate it.

From my experience, it's definitely great. But only if you're motivated. You're keeping in step with excellently performing people, so it encourages you to do better. There's a competitive edge to it and it makes you want to be the best version of yourself. But the thing is, once you start burning yourself out, it becomes an actual hellhole. Being surrounded in such an environment can actually discourage you if you so much as lag behind. Sometimes I couldn't help but feel like I didn't deserve to be there because everyone was doing so well and I wasn't. It's almost isolating. If you do go to a school like this, I wish you luck!

The teacher always takes break time, PE, or any other kinds of creative subjects (arts, music) for main subjects (literature, math, English). When you are used to it, it is not that stressful and tiring. But now, when I have gone abroad and currently studying in an international school, I realized that’s too much

I get the temptation of that, when you have the natural ability to handle a course without intense study why study for something you have little use for. However, the school system (at least in America) is built to build discipline more then anything so avoiding doing all the work destroys what little purpose there is in public school these days. It varies per school of course but work hard, even if you don't feel you have to.

As a Taiwanese who often observes Chinese society, your message seems really ironic. For example, some people blowing air conditioners on the sofa said to farmers who live in straw huts and have health problems due to heavy labor: "You can contact nature and move your body every day. Although you are tired, you are very happy." These students spend 16 hours a day. They study for hours, but they may only sleep 4 hours, and are prohibited from using the Internet. Clothing must fully comply with school regulations. Most schools even require girls to have hairstyles above the ears (the teacher may force you to cut off your bangs) ). In fact, a large number of students die suddenly or are left with physical and mental problems every year. I have seen many Chinese messages, all of which mentioned that a student died on campus. He may have jumped from a building or failed to take a rest, but the school and senior officials suppressed the news. Even students from the same school, almost no one knew who died. Their death is like a stone thrown into the sea, without even a ripple. A superficial understanding creates a ridiculous longing, I can only say this.

Yeah, I got a great score on the final test, but I also got burnt out and developed anxiety-related insomnia that I still struggle with even as a young adult.

It's also normal in Indonesia, it known as "Siswa Ambis" which means ambitious students. Here students are studying full-time and take an extra lesson just for pursuing their dream faculty in University, because they think that they will be easier to get a proper job if they are graduated from the "most needed faculty" in a prestigious university. And parents will gossips with their colleagues about their children's achievements like study or careers, so it push the students harder to achieve their dreams for makes their parents proud.

The fact that they can spend the entire day studying, and "most" go back to their dorms at the end of the day to study a little more, really shows you that their study's are no longer a normal activity that they either enjoy doing or hate doing. It has become something so conditioned into them, that it is simply something they do autonomously with little to no resistance. Studying is reflexive and no longer becomes about whether they feel like doing it or not.

It only goes to show that human can achieve anything they want once they get their mindset in the right place. Unstoppable really.

I'm actually gonna use this video as motivation for me to study hard. I tend to be lazy, scrolling aimlessly around KZread because I'm bored but now I benefit of it, I wish everyone the best of luck on their studies, I have hope in you, you will go to university and have a successful life afterwards 🥰💪

Well obviously the intensity of students shown in this video is really not suitable for a lot of people ,manage wisely your time .Except study, you can try to workout to balance your development of body.
