*Paragraph 2 of 6.* _The past eight years are confirmed to be the eight warmest on record_ The likelihood of - temporarily - breaching the 1.5°C limit of the _Paris Agreement_ is increasing with time. The persistence of a cooling La Niña event, now in its third year, means that 2022 was not the warmest year on record, but is “only” the fifth or sixth warmest. But this cooling impact will be short-lived and will not reverse the long-term warming trend caused by record levels of heat-trapping greenhouse gases in our atmosphere. The WMO El Niño/La Niña Update indicates about a 60% chance that La Niña will persist during January-March 2023, and should be followed by ENSO-neutral conditions (neither El Niño or La Niña). The 10-year average temperature for the period 2013-2022 is 1.15 [1.02 to 1.27] °C above the 1850-1900 pre-industrial baseline. This compares with 1.09°C from 2011 to 2020, as estimated by the _Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change_ (IPCC) _Sixth Assessment Report,_ and indicates that long-term warming continues.

*Paragraph 6 of 6* _The past eight years are confirmed to be the eight warmest on record_ Late December, severe storms affected large areas of North America. High winds, heavy snow and low temperatures led to widespread disruption in the east. Heavy rain, mountain snow, and flooding affected areas in the west. “There is a need to enhance preparedness for such extreme events and to ensure that we meet the UN target of Early Warnings for All in the next five years,” said Prof. Taalas. “Today only half of 193 Members have proper early warning services, which leads to much higher economic and human losses. There are also big gaps in basic weather observations in Africa and island states, which has a major negative impact on the quality of weather forecasts.”

No better than a lot gasoline or hybrid vehicles. On top of that, our electric rate is set to increase significantly next year. This only hits the working class even harder which goes to prove the Democrats don't care about them.

A KZreadr blew up his Tesla once he found out that the cost of the battery was more than the value of the car only after 8 years. EVs also have one of the worst reliability ratings of any car but it can be really bad if you compare it to Japanese combustion cars they are hundreds of percentile less reliable than Toyotas according to multiple consumer reports, so expect some hefty specialized repair bills soon. Added to that if you plan on traveling 800 miles any time soon you will have to spend 10 hours fueling up somewhere time is money at $30/hr that's 300 more expensive than combustion per 800-mile trip. Not to mention that you are fueling the cobalt slave trade you are also polluting the water table by fueling the mass mining of other rare earth elements all while reducing carbon emission but only after 5 years of driving since the initial carbon footprint is so great. But hey if you believe CO2 is bad despite the overwhelming contrary evidence because MSNBC told you its bad go for it, you're free to be brainwashed.

It's nonsense as EVs do not necessarely contribute to peak load, as intelligent charging with V2G does even the opposite, feed back to the grid in times of demand, and draw from the grid at times it makes sense, you should know that if you are indeed an electrical engineer. Renewables are extremely cheap and we could easily power all electric cars with very little effort, saving millions of tons of oil every year.

9 of 10 _Add falling sperm counts to the list of threats to human survival, epidemiologist warns_ Hunt said. "There’s no question that sperm counts have fallen. The hypothesis that sperm counts have fallen due to exposure to these chemicals has also gained more and more credence." Some trade groups, however, question the connection between endocrine-disrupting chemicals and adverse health outcomes, and some scientists have criticized studies for a lack of evidence demonstrating a direct causation between the two. Vinyl Verified, an organization working to promote public perception of vinyl, writes on its website that "a select number of competitive interests and agenda-driven activists have advanced a dishonest campaign to mislead consumers, and deny them their right to make their own decisions about vinyl." And some scientists question whether sperm counts are falling at all. Allan Pacey, a professor of andrology at Britain’s University of Sheffield, said that while he believes prenatal exposure to endocrine-disrupting chemicals can affect male fetal development, he remains "unconvinced by the data which suggests that sperm counts have fallen worldwide because of this." "I think science and medicine has accepted this hypothesis uncritically," Pacey said. "Extraordinary claims generally require extraordinary evidence - however, apparently not in this case." Pacey takes issue with the way scientists have reached their conclusions - by conducting retrospective analyses of semen analysis data performed in the past. Pacey said this method of analysis is "weak" because the methods of laboratory andrology, such as training, have changed over time.

For some insane reason, here in CT we are going to follow the CA standard. WHY??? CA has already demonstrated the inadequacies of their electrical grid, but our wonderful governor, who I refer to as Governor "me too", is hell-bent on going all electric by 2035. CT has one of the highest electric rates in the country, and our current grid is horrible. So, in order to upgrade our grid, Eversource (our electric company) will most definitely pass these improvement costs to us, making it virtually impossible to live in this state. CT is a blue state, so we are doomed. Way to go Brandon!

As far as the 5 years the batteries are warrantied for 8 years. EVs are great as long as you can charge at home. They are not as convenient for trips. They are not always less expensive to own especially when you include the generally higher initial cost. In addition charging away from home can cost more than the cost of fuel for some hybrids.

Some of the first self-propelled vehicles in the late 1700s relied on steam; yet it took until the 1870s for the technology to take hold in cars. Part of this is because steam wasn’t very practical for personal vehicles. Steam vehicles required long startup times -- sometimes up to 45 minutes in the cold -- and would need to be refilled with water, limiting their range.

At the current rate, half of men in those countries would have no sperm by 2045, while many others would have very low counts, Swan told _USA TODAY._ "Some of what we’ve been thinking of as fiction, from stories such as 'The Handmaid’s Tale' and 'Children of Men,' is rapidly becoming reality," Swan writes in her new book with science writer Stacey Colino out this week, "Count Down: How Our Modern World Is Threatening Sperm Counts, Altering Male and Female Reproductive Development, and Imperiling the Future of the Human Race." In the book, Swan argues that chemicals pervasive in our world are interfering with the hormones in our bodies and contributing to harmful reproductive health outcomes in men and women.

And that's not even covering the cost in materials that have to go into these things, and the fact that some of these things, like the batteries cannot be recycled due to the bonding process they have to use to make them! Not to mention California's rolling blackouts would turn into constant blackouts. They can't even support the electric grid they have now! LOL Goes with the idiotic notions that somehow nuclear power plants are somehow bad for the environment when they boast the cleanest, and hands down the most energy produced compared to other process, other than maybe hdyroelectric.

With the simple battery replacement after 10 years being between $15 and $25 THOUSAND, or to replace a window or windshield which is between $1200 to $2000 depending on which window. The maintenance cost added into the price makes them ridiculous. Special tires, at like $400 a piece, and like a Subaru where you have to replace all 4 at the same time most likely. Or anything else on these cars, is simply out of reach for most Americans. And it does NOTHING to save the planet. The insurance alone is ridiculously expensive. Because of how much it costs to repair them. So no many of us know and have known it was a bs scam all along.... I would literally go back to using a horse for transportation before I'd ever buy a prius. Tesla's are really nice cars but being that much in debt is not worth it.

Not sure that all the people are sending signals to the auto industry that we want electric vehicles. It is more of the government, politicians and climate activists that are sending them these signals. However when have the automotive industry really ever listened to what the customers really want. They still pretty much seem to do what they want, especially when it comes to the engineers. When was the last time we have seen a practical cup holder be designed into a vehicle? They put most of them in stupid places and its always a challenge to have to find/buy a cup that fits properly.

In fact, the only EV owner I can say for sure that I know own a relatively new and expensive car - a 2018 Audi. And you won't be able to use your car while it sits at a garage for days or weeks... in certain cases for even longer. In the meantime there's nothing else you can use your (perhaps recently installed at a significant cost) EV charger for. Unless you borrow or rent another EV that is compatible with your charger. "Your feelings based opinion mean nothing." Facts based. I've had more than my fair share of trouble after buying a brand new car, riddled with faults, for soon to be ten years ago. The dealer hasn't fully honoured the warranty and the importer, manufacturer and governmental customer support board haven't been of any help worth mentioning.
