Study: Obesity drug cuts risk of heart attack regardless of weight lost
Medical experts have hailed a new weight-loss drug as the biggest advance in public health since the introduction of statins in the 1980s.
Wegovy suppresses the appetite of patients by making them feel like they are full up.
A new study suggests the injections could cut the risk of heart attacks or strokes by around 20%.
Over the first two years of the study, the proportion of those who were obese fell sharply from more than 70% to just 43%
After three years of treatment, participants had a 20% lower risk of a heart attack, stroke or dying from cardiovascular disease.

So does going on a diet!
It's all about "money" Best of luck getting it from a GP, they have been told NO, it is quite expensive and NEEDS to be maintained to keep effects up. Obese women and men have been a problem for the NHS for decades, with diets not working and Weight Watchers not working they just get a disabled scooter when they are either too large to walk or have chronic hip and knee issues. (and that's going to help what?)
I wonder who is Sky News' largest financial backer?
"Safe and Effective" eh?
Injections?! No thanks!!
But we will see side affect in a few years

Along with microplastics, GM crops (thanks USA) and mRNA vaccines. But don't forget we still live far longer than we did (on average) 200 years ago.

When did Statins become a public health advance?
Same as exercise and diet
Press X for doubt.
Your title is misleading, there is no proof it works, only suggestion is that it could.
or...just exercise and eat better

It is ignorant statements such as yours which continues the stigma of being overweight. There are many medical conditions, and drugs, which can pile on the pounds. This can happen very quickly. Once the weight is gained it can be overwhelmingly difficult to get it off. Especially if exercising is severely restricted by the underlying medical condition. Perhaps a glimmer of compassion might be appropriate, rather than knee jerk ridicule and condemnation.

@@lindabastable3021 For a small handful of people, this would be appropriate, but for the vast majority it's not the case.
Safe AND Effective is it? 🤔
Biggest breakthrough since Statins… oh no ! Statins have terrible side effects I’m sure this does too !
