Study Identifies Ways to Improve Gender-Affirming Healthcare

A qualitative study on the healthcare experiences of transgender adults identified needed interventions on both a provider and hospital level for providing competent, gender-affirming care.
In this video interview, study author Vern Harner, PhD, of the University of Washington in Tacoma, discusses the study, which was led by a team of transgender researchers and published in JAMA Network Open.

They Should seek Psychological help... not hormones... It's irreversible... it will only do more damage to them... you can always be Gay and be happy of what and who you are...

You're missing a big picture of what makes transgenderism different from being gay, being gay is simply just an alternate preference in attraction towards a mate that doesn't line up with someone's gender. On the other hand transgenderism does not only encompass an alternate attraction but also an alternate preference towards your identity, that does not seem to line up with your gender assigned to you. This alternate preference towards your identity leads to gender dysphoria and is the primary reason why transgender people commit suicide at higher rates, and also why I would assume that transgender suicide rates are higher than gay people. Gender dysphoria results from what seems like a mismatch between how the brain views what its gender should be, and how the body views what its gender should be. This conflict or tug of war, is very mentally degrading for someone with gender dysphoria. You're wrong when you say that ‘real’ transgender people can change. This identity is built into who they are and there are studies and proof that show that transgender people have different brains than normal. The best way for gender dysphoria to be alleviated is to align the body with the brain. If you try to fight how the brain views itself, you're in a sense fighting the nature of that person, the same way you can't change a person from being gay. The only difference is that a gay men view themselves as men. Now, I understand why a lot of people are pushing back against the transgender movement, and that it's a reactionary response to the movement going too far catching people who are not truly trans into the crossfire. Leading to kids who are not truly trans making huge decisions that they will not be able to change for the rest of their lives. That an increasing number of the time, kids are not actually transgender but have other mental issues that need to be sorted out. That's why I believe that transgenderism should be something that needs to be more rigorously vetted in diagnosis. But in the end you have to acknowledge that transgenderism is a real thing. I mean, think about it and on a philosophical level, what truly makes us a man or a woman. Is it the fact that a woman has a vagina? what happens if they were born without a vagina, are they still a woman? Maybe it's someone's biology. If someone was born with unisex genes but this person looks like a man, is that person a man? Or maybe it is how someone dresses? If a woman dressed exactly like a man and was indistinguishable from that of a man, is person still a woman? Or what if our gender is determined by our brain chemistry? What if someone was born with a body and DNA exactly identical to that of a woman, but their brain functions if they were a man, is this person a man or a woman? On its head gender seems very binary, but if you look at it very closely it's actually blurry, a spectrum if you will, that is polarized between two sides. Just because the majority of the population is clearly leaning on one side of the spectrum, doesn't mean that there are people out there where that's not the case. Transgenderism is a clear example of this.

I light of the WPATH files and the ensuing X discussions, I am convinced that promoting this ideology without question is harmful. For example, we know that the effects on the body after injecting puberty blockers are not fully reversible, as had been claimed by those writing these prescriptions. Can you tell me what harmful event transpired when seeking care at some medical practices? Are all providers expected to nod YES to whatever a patient wants? What is meant by affirm?
