studio vlog 06 - etsy shop owner point of view, making & packing orders, opening new goodies

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

A typical week in the studio as an Etsy shop owner.
Let's do our part to support the Black Lives Matter movement. Visiting www.blacklivesmatter.com is a good starting point!
NY Mag has a great list of “135 Ways to Donate in Support of Black Lives and Communities of Color”: nymag.com/strategist/article/...
Along with donating, be sure to support your black-owned and BIPOC businesses. I filmed the beginning of this vlog prior to this movement and am making sure to consider diversifying the businesses I support.
Films to watch to educate yourself and support the Black Lives Matter Movement:

-Malcom X
-Freedom Riders
-When They See Us
-Fruitvale Station
-Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story
-I Am Not Your Negro
-The Hate U Give
-Explained: The Racial Wealth Gap
If you have a Netflix account, they have launched a collection of movies, TV shows and documentaries so that we can “learn more about racial injustice and the Black experience in America.”

    How does the stamp perfect press work on different materials? I do a lot on aluminum, but also use some harder metals like brass and copper so I would love to know if it's good for that as well! Fellow apartment living metal stamper :)

  • @TanaMakes

    @TanaMakes

    4 жыл бұрын

    I stamp on stainless steel which is the hardest and it works perfectly fine on those! I first started stamping with it on aluminum, brass, and copper before I switched to stainless steel, so it works on all of them. It's adjustable, so can pretty much stamp anything! Although, it's only good at stamping with stamps up to about 4mm. Anything bigger you may not get the full impression. Hope that helps! 😊

  • @TanaMakes

    @TanaMakes

    4 жыл бұрын

    I can try to do that in the future! The important part is to save the stickers you want to get cut out as a separate file from the background sheet. So you put your background file first in cricut design space as print the cut, duplicate that layer 5 times on top of each other so that the cricut cuts through all the way, and then for the actual sticker part, add that file into cricut design space as print then cut, line that file on top of the 5 background sheet layers you put previously, and you only need one layer for the actual sticker part. Then when you go to make it, set to cut on either the sticky note or washi tape setting, whichever one works best for your paper, and it should work. Hopefully that was clear!

    I put the earrings on a kraft paper earring card that I print and cut myself, and then just put tissue paper to fill the void so the earrings aren't moving around. This is only because the cotton stuffing that comes with the boxes isn't that thick.

    So they can break in transit or poke through the packaging? The earrings can move all over the place and the posts can bend or break off with pressure if you do that. If they could lay flat like dangle earrings then MAYBE.. but the point is to protect them. Plus everything I use is recycled materials and recyclable/compostable. • @TanaMakes

    @TanaMakes

    🙄 The fact that there is a gender pay gap in the US and women make a salary around 80% of that of the average man IS still belitting women, and on top of that I'm Latina and we are hit the hardest with the wage gap. Maybe once it's equal then women won't feel the need to include that. I personally loved supporting woman-owned business and love knowing what I'm supporting from many aspects.
