I really enjoy viewing visits to studios like this to see how people produce and develop their music. I rebooted my music hobby, studying music now and slowly discovering musical landscapes with synthetic music. And yes, I can see me ending up with tons of gear in years to come.

also totally agree about channels to process FX, what you send into an FX (bass into reverb etc) and what comes back, plus the option to make feedback loops has always been a big part of how I've worked.

Wow ! I like this guy ! What a pleasant surprise. He's got a lot of really good takes on what he does, both philosophical and technical. Very interesting dude. I also like how he doubles back, occasionally, and corrects his pronunciation of certain words. It demonstrates his observational ability. Thanks for introducing us all, Bo. 🙂

To me he is just a great inspiration. And I feel so lucky to live in a time when artists that are willing to share their process and learnings, their ups and their downs, can do so via a platform like this. His openess and eagerness to share his journey is just second to none. No disrespect to you, Bo 😀, but Oora is in a league of his own. And it all boils down to his humble, honest and funny approach that is truly unique and inspiring. He is also a great «asset» to the «synth youtuber community»; bringing serious artistic reflections and approaches to the table. I really hope that he will continue being «that guy» and keep up the sharing… ❤️

Recently discovered Oora and I love how down to earth he is. And of course, the always everything connected for recording setup is goals. I do like to play my synths on the couch too though and that means it won’t stay connected for long. I don’t really change what I use that often. The where changes, but not really what I use. I’m slow at buying new gear and never sell it. Selling one piece of gear 4 times had me laughing out loud! I’m the same with buying stuff. It ends up in the cart 4 times and then I end up buy something else in the end and use that forever 😂

I have 2 Emagic Unitor 8 units that provide 2x8 MIDI ins from and 2x8 MIDI outs to my synths so I don't have to use MIDI through on none of them, can also dump back sysex from any of them without disturbing the others... that's 2 units x 8x16 MIDI channels in both directions. I don't have to deal with delay and MIDI latency either...... Worth exploring.

I think he was showing the effects aux set up to create interesting effect dub chains not to clean up muddy effects. Anyhoo nice interesting video. Also, I fixed my sync problems with the Innerclock sync gen 3lx Has multiple din midi sync outs to clock other sequencers perfectly in sync.

  • @dmoracze

Really cool video. Something wasn't clear though. Audio gets routed to the patchbay, I assume half-normaled. Then the back out gets sent to the interface, and the front can be patched to the mixer, right? Then the mixer has effect sends and all that jazz, but sums to stereo and goes to the interface (or patchbay to interface). So does that means multiple instruments and effects are printed to the stereo mix and the multitrack is all dry signal? If so then it must take a lot of work to try and re-create the performance from the dry signal if you want to work with the multitracks. Unless I'm misunderstanding something. I know he said he sends only one instrument to one effect in the mixer, but that still means everything is printed to the stereo and you can't disentangle, unless the mixer has multitrack.

I get that he put in a ridiculous amount of work for this, and changing things still causes headaches, but the thing that really gets me is, he has such a massive setup and things just work. My setup isn't anywhere near as impressive, and i am always having to find out why something isn't doing what i want. It is my biggest hindrance to getting anything done. Also, that AM1 mixer setup is purely awesome.
