Studio One - How to Write Great Melodies (Using Virtual Instruments)

In this lesson, we learn to compose a melody for the beat we created during the previous series of videos. I demonstrate one very effective method for developing a nice melody. There are as many methods for composing as there are people, but this process has proven very useful for me and many others. Please leave any questions or feedback below in the comments section.
This lesson is part of a massive Studio One Music Production Course, available for FREE here on KZread. You can find the rest of the course at the link below.

"Why do I see/hear the word 'Lydian' in these videos?"
This Studio One course was originally created to be a standalone course outside of KZread, and the name of that course/project was Lydian Learning. The name has now changed but everything else is the same.

You can see the Auto-Tune VST in the browser, but when you drag it onto a track, nothing happens?

@@prashunthapa1704 Ok. It seems like someone had the same problem here and found a solution: www.reddit.com/r/StudioOne/comments/8pdkky/cant_load_a_vst_in_studio_one_4_guys_please_help/ 1). Try running Studio One as an administrator (if you're using windows). 2). If that doesn't work, reinstall Auto-Tune with the "solve compatibility problems" option. I don't use Windows so I'm not sure how to do that exactly...

I have the problem that I can't remember what I played when improvising ,I basically get lost in creation as it were.... Can I record in the background automatically ? I believe one of the other DAWS does this but can't remember which one ..

Yup, in S1 it's called "retrospective recording". It only works for MIDI. You can enable it on a per track basis. Just search up the feature name and you'll find some info 👌🏼

@@garfieldedwards8367 I hope not! If you're talking about the Lydian Loops packs I made, they are not registered anywhere and are free to use. That being said, it is possible that someone used them and then registered the song, which could result in a potential issue. Annoying stuff happens in the music world!
