Studio McGee Spec Home Tour: Sharing the Entry, Great Room, Dining, and Office Details #SMSpecHome
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Welcome into the first finished spaces of our first-ever Studio McGee-designed spec home. We’re so excited to show you around the living, dining, and office. Starting in the entryway, “I wanted it to look like oak,” Shea explains. Seeing as to oak’s price tag, Shea opted instead for alder wood, which mimics a natural oak with a custom stain. “Work with the subcontractor,” Shea advises to know what materials they have access to and how you can achieve the look you want without exceeding your budget.
In the living room, you’re greeted with stunning double beam vaulted ceilings, a design element that caused ripples in Shea’s design plan. With two other stain finishes visible in the space, Shea choose to match the ceiling’s wood with the kitchen cabinetry. The fireplace features the same limestone you’ll find on the exterior of the home. A rich overgrout is a good way to add character and a sense of history to a new build.

What really makes these homes look so nice is just the largeness of everything. The built ins. The high base boards, the high fireplace, the huge light fixtures. And as long as you keep everything neutral with natural elements it just screams expensive. Love Studio McGee.
Love every detail in this spec home! Shea always mentioning “WE” all throughout the video says about her being a great team leader. She acknowledges that this is a team effort.

So kind of you! Thank you! ❤️
I would like to volunteer my home to be a spec house. It's been many years since Studio McGee came on the scene and we are not tired of the look, feel, and flavor. Absolutely timeless and stunning.
Everything flows and speak to each other! This is a space you and your friends and loved ones can get lost in!❤ Well done Shea and Syd!🎉
Oh gosh, thank you so much for being honest! I swear it was oak. It's good to know we can make something similar without spending so much. I never heard of alder wood before, and now I'll take into consideration. ❤

Loved the office space 👍
I love this house. Want one just like it!!!
Beautiful.
Incredible work! I am dreaming that one day Shea can design my home… here in Australia. ☺️ I am a massive fan of your work.
The ceiling detail with the double wood beams and wood paneling looks amazing! It's so much different and better than the typical wood beam look that is popular lately.

Thanks so much!! ❤️
Absolutely gorgeous!!! the windows painted the same color just makes it bright and glow. I love that look!! with the dark rods for drapes. That is magnificent! Everything I would want in my dream home. The office absolutely 💯 brown my first pick! Why? Because everybody always wants lightwood with hunter green. I get it everybody has their own preference And they want to be safe! But think out of the box just go for it! You don't like it change it. just the old school office I like different and classy that is also amazing! Beautiful work!

😍 I am obsessed with the living to dining floorplan. It's such a beautiful statement when entering the home. Any chance you can share the ceiling height in the entry versus the living/dining?
Maravilhoso!
Beautiful as always. Love the warm hug entry. (NOT a spec home by any stretch...)

Well done, beautiful & calming home. I love everything. Where are the sconces on the shelves in the study from please ?
Love the natural finish on your white oak cabinetry? Would you know the brand & type of finish? We are looking to use General Finishes Flat Out Flat for a similar look but just want to make sure. Thanks so much Studio Mcgee!
I always love her design, if I am rich... I will ask her to built and design my house❤
It’s really nice guys… are the home plans available to purchase? I’m in Canada
Can you please share the custom stain that was used on the alder?

It's from Nordstrom but sadly its sold out! ❤️
Nice for sure, but feel like there was some missed opportunities for a little bit of darker tones for accent. I think the fireplace stone looks great and all, but could've been darker, especially without a chandelier.
Is this Katy hearn’s new house?!!
I genuinely love it, all of it, but I wish houses would go back to having charm and personality. Every home looks like a minimalist repeat of what’s already out there.
What is the wall color in the bedrooms?

@StudioMcGee Thank you. Looking to change wall color in primary & wanted a neutral color.
Very nice... Just alittle bland for me.. I am about a neutral home, just having some blue in different shades, with shades of beighes...
I love it, but too much light wood everywhere.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to Studio McGee bringing in some more mid-tone or darker woods at some point soon.
I love everything except the curtains 10:50 in the dining area. I just feel that there are too much of it there. ❤
what's the address??

All studio McGee projects are great. I don’t understand one thing: why do you build seedlings that high. Alle the furniture looking to small and heat always goes up so it is absolutely not environmentally friendly because you have to heat more. I don’t understand that
It is really beautiful, but I don't understand, why American homes don't have a proper entry, that protects the living spaces from getting cold.
