It's actually ironic that AOT's use and experimentation efforts of CGI in S4P1 is what saved those Rumbling scenes in S4P2+3 Cour 1. People wanted WIT to carry on with AOT but I highly doubt they have the experience, resources and years of CGI knowledge to pull off the Rumbling. For all we know we could've gotten still shots of colossal titans from WIT and that's it.

It's worth noting that WIT STUDIO does not have a 3DCG department unlike MAPPA. That's why the 3DCG of S1-3 was outsourced to MADBOX with Shuhei Yabuta (Vinland Saga director) being the 3DCG director/producer of the show. Note that Yabuta previously worked at MADBOX before joining MAPPA at 2020. Anyway, the thing is that MADBOX is far better at using 3D backgrounds than 3D models.

It's because the vast majority of the Anime Fandom hasn't watched anything that came out before 2018. Meanwhile in 90s and in the 2000s was extremely common to use weighty and realistic animation, even in comedy anime, because it's a style extremely difficult to master, but during those times KA were actually trained to do so and the industry didnt need to ask help to the 2º gen of web animator, that aside from few exceptions like Vercreek(his mother is an animator , so I guess she thought him how to properly animate since his childhood), they all lacks the very basics of animation and try to make everything look heavily smeared and extremely fast and flashy
@user-aeb87825

I feel like people just wants a flashy anime and fast paced. The Life-like style they were going for does make some of the action scenes feel heavy and slow. I'm fine having it on slice of life and atmospheric scenes.
Only a little bit related, but I love that MAPPA adapts old manga so that the western fanbase can get more official translations, and they actually read old stuff because if it. Like no one in the west knew about Dorohedoro or Dororo until their new adaptations from MAPPA and they actually started reading them.

MAPPA's 3D Department has had a constant positive development over the years. To this day, I still hold my ground in saying that they are the best 3D Department at mixing 2D and 3D characters. I can only hope that the strong, large and experienced 3D team maintains most of their key members in order to further this style and technique. Of course while the 3D Staff matter, in Chainsaw Man's case I feel the input of Sugiyama's notes on the 3D design helped blend the line a lot when developing the final model. Furthermore it takes competent photography and compositing to bring the 3D models to the "2D Realm" without it looking janky. They have said before that many experimental techniques they hadn't used before were implemented in Chainsaw Man's 3D production. I believe some of these were: the use of different LOD models, and constant hand drawn smears. The smear work handled by the 3D Department was impressive and sold every scene they were in. The three LOD models they had for both Katana Man and Chainsaw Man were good, though there is still room for improvement. As is with most 3D models there were still compression issues in some scenes, which I feel could've been alleviated if they had played around with how they use the different LOD models or how they handle the smaller details on the models. That aside the other issues I feel they can overcome are just general movement and morphing of the models, something I feel a strong schedule would allow. As you said, there is a lot to look forward to when it comes to this department's future endeavours. I feel they are bordering on the next level of 3D integration in 2D anime. Just a little more control of line weight, movement, morphing and overall polish and we could end up with something mindblowing. Until 2024 and 2025 we will have to just sit and wait as to see the next project where they can implement their new skills from day one of production.

I wish AOT animates the prequel manga of attack on titan "before the fall" as an ova (many people don't even know it exists) and animate it with as much time they need , attack on titan is well animated , the taste of people has just exceeded too much these days that they don't appreciate what they're given with , none other than the animators understand the pain of animating frame by frame , that's also the reason cgi is a good thing , now for mappa the quality of cgi is good enough for s4 part 2 of aot but they really excelled in cgi in part 3 like didn't anyone notice the details on colossal titans , that 1 hour episode showed the quality which would've be there in part 1 if enough time was provided , I literally wouldn't mind if the next part comes the next year as I know if the time is given mappa really cooks something awesome👌

@@EvilMikaIzHere a shit ton of people can't bro. They say it's horrible without any valid explainations. Idk if it's studio bias or they are stupid or Something idk💀
you say as if the cgi in csm was anything special, 95% of the cgi was just denji, of course itd be far far easier to 'perfect'. And while it looks fine, its nothing *groundbreaking*

It was Really special if you actually Read the interview by CGworld and the amount of effort that was putted into it

@@user-og6pb6dd5p effort=/=good. Im glad they cared that much about the cgi but to me that makes it even more dissapointing when a small studio like orange impales them with houseki no kuni.

@@Hetsu.. It dosen't have anything to do with how large the Studio is. It depends on Training, experience and the approch. While Orange CGI is Really impressive. Their work is not as hard because they don't have to blend 3d foregrounds with 2d. I hate when you guys pretend to know a lot of shit about these topics. This video is enough to Show you (i assume a lot of info comes from CGworld interview since he saw it And Read it Before)

@@Hetsu.. Not to mention 2d smears on top of the 3d foreground model (and ofc the 3d backgrounds is perfect as well)
