Studio Livestream #2 Ambient Session
Музыка
This is the recording of an ambient music session that I played on oct. 8th from 22:00 - 00:30 to celebrate my birthday. The music was released on an album: phelios.bandcamp.com/album/seven-pieces-for-synthesizer
Here are the rules:
- all music is played live on my synths.
- I use only hardware synths, Ableton is only working as a midi looper, audio looper and mixer
- all music is improvised, I only prepared a few patches and will also create new patches during the live session
- since I still have to hire someone to bring me tea I have to leave every now and then to get a new tea
- if you have any questions feel free to put them in the comments but keep in mind that I will focus on playing. I try to answer everything later after the stream is recorded.
- at 00:00 is my birthday! If you like to get me and yourself a present buy something on my bandcamp page: phelios.bandcamp.com/ Bandcamp is the most immediate way to support me and my music.
Gear list: Access Virus TI, Moog Sub 37, Yamaha DX7, Waldorf Microwave I rev a, Yamaha TG77, Roland JV2080, Kawai K5000R, Oberheim Matrix 1000, Moogerfooger Ringmodulator, UAD Apollo, Eurorack with Mutable Instruments & Intellijel, Valhalla Vintage Verb, Waves H-Delay, Ableton Live 10.x

Thanks a lot! Ambient is a true passion of mine.
This also is my cup of tea ;)
Nice, thanks :)
Herzlichen Glückwunsch! Auch wenn es ganz schön melancholisch klingt wie Du den Anlass für die Session beschreibst …
This is one of my favorite @home concerts you've done. Wish it was on Vinyl I'd just set it up and play it all day as my Software development zen mood music.

Thank you! I released it on tape a while ago, but I don't have any left. Did you know, that the set is on Bandcamp / Spotify? The album is called "seven pieces for synthesizer".

I'm an old hippy trippy peace and love type , enjoy it while you can ! One day we'll all be together ! I hope I get sizzled to the tunes of William orbit ! Luv it !
You look like a young Christoph Franke (Tangerine Dream), ca. 1971-1975.

Thank you! The answer is simple: www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/451112 I am using two independent sequencer lines at the moment. Varigate controls the upper row and Metropolis the lower row.
Wonderful. Donyou have any tips for how to doing midi and audio looping in ableton?

You are literally over four years late, but thank you!
Ive been gathering equipment alittle more quickly than i can learn the features. But I'm catching up. Id really like to get some generative or just good ambient tracks going. Great stuff. I don't use a computer though.
Wauw ❤️❤️ sounds of Racoon city ,"'*'",
Love the ambience! Good work my friend. Just curious, what chords are you using in the beginning? Such gentle transitions

Thank you! This is rather hard to explain without knowing your "level" in music theory. When I improvise I use a lot of chords and progressions that I would also use when I play the church organ. I play a lot with suspended chords (www.simplifyingtheory.com/suspended-chords/) but without the continuation that music theory usually expects here. I also play modal scales. These are just two of many ideas that help me to keep the music "open" and floating. Not sure if anyone can understand anything here, it´s kind of hard to explain since I don´t think much about it during my improvisation.

@@MartinStuertzer thank you for this! I will look further into it. I've had some college level music theory, but it's different putting things into practice. 😅
Some times I believe that may be that is the answer /; I am not nesting a feeling that did not gave birth to me reasons why I am not using the the desk I will use it again
I listen to this when I play online chess.

@@MartinStuertzer hurray ! I see it's out soon. Thanks : )
Someone told me once you couldn't make ambient music with monophonic synths. I said what are you talking about? A MiniMoog has 3 oscillators.
