"Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip" - Official Trailer

Ойын-сауық

This is the official trailer for NBC's "Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip", which started off as a biting satire of television and an insightful behind-the-scenes look into what it takes to create a weekly "SNL"-type show. But the show quickly and unfortunately became melodramatic, cheesy, repetitive, unfunny and, actually kind of boring. Which is all the more disappointing considering the team behind it.
"Studio 60" aired in 2006 and was created by the team behind "The West Wing", including writer Aaron Sorkin and director Thomas Schlamme and starred Bradley Whitford, Matthew Perry, Amanda Peet, Steven Weber, D.L. Hughley, Sarah Paulson and Timothy Busfield.
It aired for only one season and is available on DVD.

Triple same. Had no idea this existed. Sucks it didn't pan out. I just got to the part in his book about this and now I'm dreading to read what happens when the show ultimately goes under. Seemed like this could have been a really good thing for him. They should have sold it to HBO instead of network fucking television.

I think people got cheesed off by the self importance shown by the characters and the show. Whereas the character on TWW were running the country and their actions had implications on the entire country at times, therefore allowing the characters to carry off the attitude of self importance, the same isn't true on Studio 60. Another big problem was that the sketch comedy on the show was horrible. We keep getting told that Matt Alby(Matthew Perry) is a great writer, but none of the sketches seem remotely funny.

I still don't watch the network that killed it. Normally I'm a very forgiving person but in this one instance I'm choosing to be petty and childish. At least I can see it on my DVD set and the Itunes digital copy I bought. Yes, I confess, I'm a bit of a fanatic about this show. I don't stalk the creators or cast, but I do subject each person I become friends with to it so they too can experience what quality entertainment on TV should be.

there is a good reason why 30 Rock went on to have multiple seasons and continued cultural relevance and why this show didn't and is barely remembered. Aaron Sorkin's writing, whatever you want to say about it, it tends to try and give things a very grand sense of importance. Like he treats this SNL knockoff as if its like some amazingly important thing culturally. and that just...doesn't work for a comedy. Or at least a comedy like this. The way 30 Rock handled its show within the show, is that it recognizes that it sucks. Its dreck, it reaches for the lowest common denominator, and it and the people involved are ultimately just small cogs in a larger corporate machine. It leans into the real life absurdism of working in the television industry and you feel it because Tina Fey is a veteran of those things. Aaron Sorkin meanwhile is a guy who got his big break writing plays before becoming a scriptwriter for movies. He doesn't know the belly of the beast in the same way that Fey does.

I thought the Show was Fantastic. I think one of the problems was showing us the rehearsals of the the skits instead of just the skits. Matt is quoted in the second show "Comedy is less funny the second time around." Example: they gave away too much of the G&S song, so it was fun, but not nearly as funny as it could have been if we didn't know it was coming. How ever I truly wish it was still on.

I stuck with this show from start to finish, mostly because of the cast. Unlike most viewers, I found it just OK. The biggest problem was the “comedy” skits were not funny - so bad that they took me right out of the show. If you’re trying to convincingly show the behind-the-scenes goings-on of a supposedly hilarious TV show, the bits you show from this program had better at least not be cringeworthy.

You are right i've recently watch this show and while it's good some of the actors and characters are so bland, I know Amanda is friends with Sarah she actually helped Sarah get the role of Harriet, but Amanda's character coul have been erased and no one would have noticed, I don't really andurstand how Amanda was the most successful one earlier in their careers when Sarah is much more talented, so yeah I too see why the show failed one of their mistakes was giving too much importance to characters that did nothing to help the show.
