Studies find microplastics in human lungs, blood stream

Scientists from the Netherlands and the U.K. recently identified microplastics deep in the lungs of some surgical patients and in the blood of anonymous donors. Researchers say that it's possible to take in these particles through the air we breathe. Leigh Shemitz, president of SoundWaters, and Paul Anastas, director of the Center for Green Chemistry at Yale University, join CBS News' Lana Zak to discuss microplastics' impact on humans and what can be done to mitigate plastic pollution.

This won't be happening much longer as plastic is a product made with fossil fuels. You might be thinking about how we recycle plastic but really we only recycle a small percentage of what goes to the recycling center. It takes enerygy to recycle. Car manufacturers use 40% recycled plastics for their vehicles. Where will the other 60% come from? In 50 years we will run out of metals. Metals rust over time as we witnessed a building colapse in Florida due to oxidation. Rubber is a struggling industry too primarily due to the climate changing. Glass is also a resource we may not have in the not so distant future. Luckily if we think about it, wood is still a resource if we plant more trees. Plant trees that are indiguous to the area. This woman who lives down the street used to live across from me 20 years ago. I moved into a different community that had been built 40 years prior outside city limits while she later moved into a new house down the way from my house. Neighbors again. It is a wooded area. She had all her trees removed and has her spacious land mowed with fossil fuels. What gripes me is she shouldn't have moved if she didn't like trees and she should keep her mouth shut when conversations on climate change arise as she is the culprit for damaging the climate. She votes democrat. Yeah, save the trees. We may need to build waggons in the future.

What would happen if we made a furnace in space to burn the plastic and waste. Would it leak into the atmosphere or would it just dissipate in the giant vacuum. To change plastic we need to have a new material to replace or add along side plastic.
