Hello Tim, hope you're well. As it stands no we're not, they are all wooden and painted and match the wooden and painted windows which the customer likes. The windows on back of the house, however, will be changed so maybe we could change the soffit and facia there but it'll be up to the customer. Thank you for your comment mate, have a great weekend.

How deep where the pockets you guys cut into the chimney breast for the ridge steels?

Morning Kevin, sorry for the late reply mate. We weren't allowed to cut into the chimney breasts at all due to building regs. You'll see in the next video (maybe a couple of videos after this one) that we installed fabricated vertical posts at either end to hold it all up.

How did you fix the old pitched roof timber ridge to the new ridge beam please? Was there any issues with flex/twist in the old timber? If there was how did you get round these?

Hi Simon and thanks for commenting. Without going back into the footage you may or may not have seen that first of all we temporary propped the old roof all the way along prior to cutting any of the rear roof out. The steel ridge beam had timber put inside the web both sides and bolted together. In this instance the existing ridge was still flat along its length so we pushed the steel against it and fixed the ridge to the plate inside the web of the steel and then took the props out. Hope this helps and thanks for watching

@@mrabuilders6723 thank you. Did you bolt right through the old timber and the new steel and new timbers, or use screws to fix the old beam to the web of the steel please? I’ve been told timber lok screws are fine, but just checking if you think that’s ok for this please.
