STUCK! Powerful 24" 80cc "BiG DADDY" Stihl MS500iR Chainsaw gets Pinched

Today, I'm taking on tougher timber: a 7,200 lb poplar trunk. Armed with my new Stihl MS500iR 24" 79.2cc chainsaw, this beast is ready to tackle the challenge. The wood’s no match-until I get the saw stuck. DANG! Even with all my safety training and tree-felling lessons, I'm still learning. KZread's a goldmine for skills and knowledge, and I’ve been soaking it all up.
Living partly off the land, we rely on this wood to heat our home and provide for others, either for profit or barter. It’s all about a community helping each other out. With a trusty wedge, I got the chainsaw free and back in action. This isn't my first rodeo, and it won’t be my last. I am the one who manages this forest now.. and we have a lot to offer.

I have the same saw, wrap handle and all, with a 28" bar so i don't need to bend over when I am bucking logs. After using it for a couple of hours the MS261 saw feels like a toy.

I’d go for a 3/8 non safety chain you’ll love the performance 👍👊

Might be a good idea to downsize a saw to your skill level & I would take some basic chainsaw lessons/classes don't take this as a negative comment, constructive criticism at the most! you put yourself in a lot of dangerous predicaments! You can't notice unless you're watching yourself back on video. I been around for a while watching your videos, I'm acclimating with you.

I wanted to say the same. I'm not a chainsaw expert, but I believe you really tried to let the saw slip in to your leg.

@@poppygoatshomestead The chainsaw pulls at the under side. If your blade gets stuck with the underside, your chainsaw pulls itself to the tree and stops at the engine. If you get stuck while cutting with the upside, the saw pushes you with the saw out of the log. If the saw is out of the log it can cut everything in it's path, including your leg. Also, the tip of your saw is the part that doesn't pull and push, but rather kicks; you want to avoid cutting with that. Besides the warning, I want to thank you for your content and entertainment. I have been following you for many years and saw you grow from an small youtuber to a big channel and after that the downfall to a small channel again. Thank you for your hard work and stay save!

@@rik7373 my man, I would like to thank you for your concern, and I am glad that my years of experience on the tube has taught me to handle comments gently, which lead to your comment here. What an awesome thing to read, and so much care. Thank you. I want you to know that I always do my best to stand at 45 degrees, or spread. I have actually studied chainsawing for a long time and have used my other saw for at least 7 years. Although I like to make creative film, sometimes it doesnt tend to make film seem like everything is safe. Please be assured there are moments you need to use the tip of the chainsaw when bucking close to the ground, and one has to be ready for the kick, and never lazy. A lot of thought always goes into what I am doing, and I think thats why I have been successful.. BUT, ALWAYS a student, and never a master, I take all advice and absorb it to be as helpful as possible. Thank you for caring.
