Serious safety warning from someone who’s worked on similar ships. Do not enter any sealed tanks. It’s very likely it could have a deadly low levels of oxygen and you’ll just instantly pass out if you enter without warning. When metal rusts it pulls oxygen out of the atmosphere and you only need a 5% drop to be in danger and the body cannot sense a shortage of oxygen.

Paint room is because of the salt water, look how rusty everything is. A fresh coat of oil or paint prevents rust and because of the size of the ship you need yo keep it on hand and a team painters. Edit: I should add that it's potentially flammable materials so that's why it's in another room and not just general hold or storage and codes can require it to be in a separate marked room

Paint room is where you keep the paint and chipping equipment, for the deck crew to do repairs. You don't want open metal exposed to sea water so painting is done often, even if it seems strange. Edit: If you do this again I cannot recommend going into completely enclosed areas - sometimes they have no oxygen due to it all reacting with the metal to form rust, and you could pass out or die. There's quite a few recorded incidents of this happening so be careful.

Watching Sasha doing those climbs just really made my day!! An example of patiently getting back into the game, class act mate! That was a sketchy sketchy video with those weird climbs inside the ship and really enjoyed it as usual!
This might be hands down some of my favorite content from the Storror lads. Ominous, beautiful, slabby off-widthy and cavey climbs, water challenges, a rope swing, dive footage, the whole crew, a Sacha gainer, Josh hitting an over-water dyno... I'm charging a revolut card!
@YDAE4

Exactly! Such a wonderful location and so many different challenges, lovely journey!
There is a paint room in every ship because once at sea, one of the duties of the deck crew is to continuously re-paint the ship 🙂 Salt water is the most agressive environment ever for metal and there is no paint on earth which withstands that aggressivenes forever, a good proof is the shipwreck you're playing on. Check when it got grounded and that's the result of stopping to repaint the ship ! So once you've finished repainting the ship you're already starting over again.

Couple months ago Josh wouldnt even go anywhere near a small river. Look at him enjoying a claustrophobic sunken boat in open water. Everybody is progressing so much its amazing.
A thing to keep in mind with old ships is that they often contain a lot of asbestos in the insulation of pipes and walls sometimes even in the paint. I am sure the safety-team checked that beforehand in this case just thought it'd be nice to know for everyone else ;)
These sunken ship videos are so sick to watch They are so unique to most the challenges you do and it's cool seeing you guys adapt to each of the very weird and unique obstacles you find

Hi
Yay geologist here! I guess the rock layers have been deposited about 22 million years ago. At that time these layers were actually the sea floor! When tiny calcareous animals died, they sunk to the bottom of the ocean and then later turned into rocks due to the pressure of the layers above. Now, that these rocks are exposed to the sea and wind, the more muddy layers are weaker and have eroded faster than the stronger limestone ones, hence the cool layers! Thank you for again an amazing vid! 💙Love from the canals of Utrecht 😄

The paint room/ paint locker is used to store paint and other flammable liquids like paint thinner. It’s generally used to keep all flammable related in one area and on modern ships the paint locker/room will have its one fire suppression system in case of spontaneous combustion or fire. And the room you were asking about on the crane is called a crane cabin. Any other Mariner questions feel free to ask. Also to answer a question I saw about the paint being lead based. There’s no telling different countries have different regulations when it comes to marine paint.

If anyone was curious. Paint store is seperated because paint fumes can be toxic and flammable so the room needs a completely seperate ventilation system with duct openings leading to open deck area. Also ship crew during their travels uses A LOT of paint so seperate room is useful just to store large amounts of paint 😉
@sherlockholmes9570
Жыл бұрын
Dumb question but why do they need so much paint during travel, and not just paint once at the port? Because of rust?
@dariusz.9119
Жыл бұрын
@@sherlockholmes9570 Yes. Main thing is sea water and rust but it's a main thing. There are also two other reasons I can think of now: 1. As an officer you always need to have a task (job) for your crewmates otherwise they can go crazy (it happens at sea) so the easiest way to find them something to do is to make them paint the ship/engine room/basically any equipment (again) or clean the ship. 2. In some cases in order for the vessel to get through a coastguard check and be granted a pass to enter the territorial waters and destination port the ship needs to be in a well maintained state. If there are any leaks (there always are) and visible streaks/spots of liquids on the equipment as well as visible rust and paint chipping the costguard of a country that ship is trying to dock to can arrest, fine or even send the ship back for not complying with that country's regulations. So couple of days before entering territorial waters the crew needs to repaint every thing that doesn't look clean or new in order to safely enter the waters (it mostly happens when dealing with the US' coastguard. They are pretty annoying about that 😉)
So excited to see you visiting Cyprus, my home country. I 've been a fan for years now and I just so gassed to see you explore Cyprus. Storror army
got to admire the fact that sasha is up for all the challenges as of all the team he is actually pushing his limits the most.
Can't wait to watch this banger in HD!
Only thing I look forward too on a Monday. Cheers storror for making my Monday that bit better. Keep up the hard work lads.
