Strymon Cloudburst: How to Be Advanced
Музыка
This reverb is a heavily updated standalone version of Strymon's Cloud algorithm, found in the BigSky pedal, and in this video I show you what I think are the 5 coolest things you can do with it. Settings and affiliate links are below. Stop-motion animation and drone footage by John Marty. Additional drone footage by Best Frenemies.

“Anything less than 100% wet is weakness” came here for fun demos but I’ll stay for the wisdom
I love how Strymon noticed this guys small channel and started giving him pedals to review.

Dude! I started humming along and started singing "Wolf Like Me" until I realized that's exactly what the song was 😂 I thought it was just coincidence at first lol!
As a professional music producer and mix engineer, but also as a guitar player and lover of sounds, I FREAKING LOVE YOUR CHANNEL. Thanks for the inspiration, it's a blessed thing.
"Anything less than 100% is weakness"
damn those chord voicings are juicy in the first example with the cloudburst.

I agree with everyone in comments. #1 tip was awesome! The music is so cool. Would love a composition series similar to pro tips. Would send money but I'm newly retired and still adjusting. Thanks

Great review looking at the more fun aspects of this pedal. Subscribed.
Great tunes. Great demo. Thanks, man.
Love your evaluations, spot on and great playing and music overall
Top shelf song selection for this vid.
So glad found your channel such great content and ideas that can be applied to so many things. Thank You 👍
I'm very happy to have found this channel.
I appreciate when I watch these videos from you specifically it doesn't feel like a product sales pitch/demo. You're really good at educating people with how to USE this or any pedal they have - keep it up man.

Your song selection is always great, but in this vid it was next level.
the second jam reminded me TV on The Radio, "Wolf Like Me".
This pedal is so sick thanks for giving us all the advantage.
0:31 Wow that first chord was enough for me to play the baseline in my head before you got to the rest that was spot on

I'm glad, that first chord voicing is super cool. (Dm7 with a G in the bass, so Dm11, but almost entirely in stacked perfect fourths.)
I love this dude's channel! 😆 Just found it the other day and instantly subscribed
Nice Hendrix! That was unexpected and very cool
That outro was ace !!!
Your vids put me in a good mood. I felt the milkshake comparison too 👌🏼
Very creative content. Nice combination of audio and visuals.
You’re the first reviewer I’ve seen to have the mix knob all the way up and the pre delay all the way down. I was desperate to hear how that sounded. I just got my dispatch email this morning so I don’t have much longer to try myself but it was great to hear it while I wait impatiently
Why do I need this pedal?! DAMN! I WAS HAPPY
Fantastic!
You are a goldmine! Thank you
I can’t wait until the next Cyberattack album! I’m so ready for it!

wtf so cool. came for the pedal, staying for the coolness
Obviously you’re a child of the 80’s! 🕺
interesting sounds and visual presentation.
Nice one. Must spend more time with this unit.

Wow... you popped up in my feed and... wow!! I am so TIRED of the synth gear shills on YT that offer nothing but an occasional witty crack. You actually go thru useful features of the pedal like an actual musician would. Fantastic channel. Now I have to go back and watch your old videos!!
davidespinosa said: We've been asking for the three big boxes in one unit since they came out. But Strymon is following the profits -- one box per algorithm...
Phenomenal vid! I hope Strymon paid you for it! Cheers!
I think this pedal needs a Cyberattack mod where there's an advanced Ensemble mode that sounds like the Original Macintosh Quadra startup sound.
@CyberattackWorld

oh man I gotta cover that at some point
Would love for you to do a full clip on (just) the Freeze Mode
Great review…. Do you have to use their switch for the swells? Or can a MIDI pedal also accomplish the same thing?
@CyberattackWorld
Жыл бұрын
The manual says "You can use your Strymon MiniSwitch or an external, non-latching (momentary) type switch to access the cloudburst Freeze or Infinite modes." But I don't know more than that.

Ok, then you can but you’ll need Suhr Micro MIDI.
What setting on the Dispatch Master gets you that glorious sound??

How would you compare this to the NightSky? Great vid as always.
@CyberattackWorld
Жыл бұрын
The NightSky can be tweaked and pushed in way more directions than this pedal, like the NightSky is more of a tool kit you can mess with however you see fit. The Cloudburst has fewer places it can go, but the basic starting sounds you get from it are extremely good, and I think the range of the Decay knob basically covers every “realistic” reverb you would need as long as you don’t need an exact vintage sound like a spring or something. And the Cloudburst can still get weird too. It’s just not as broad as the NightSky.
@spacecityshakedown1981

@@CyberattackWorld are you able to get the NightSky to do the ensemble string stuff with tracking as immediate as the CloudBurst?
@CyberattackWorld
Жыл бұрын
The NightSky does cool pitch shift stuff but it doesn’t sound like the Ensemble thing Cloudburst does
This is such a unique take on the pedal. Does anyone know the song used in #2, it's driving me crazy because I can sing the words in my head but just can't remember the name - is it a Bloc Party tune?

You should be making music for video games.
I honestly believe that people will still be watching these Cyberattack videos long after the pedals themselves are forgotten. "Grandpa, is that really what CGI looked like in the 21st century?" a child will ask one day in a post-apocalyptic society. "Yes, of course," the grandpa will answer, because everything else from our era will have been forgotten or discarded.
@wychwoodmusic
Жыл бұрын
"What's a guitar pedal?" the child will ask. ""It's like an image filter or micro-acid dose you apply to your music, instead of an image or tour head. People would attach these pedals to their energy generation bikes, so that it would change the sound by affecting the electrical current that ran through the guitar, which is an obscure kind of touchsynth we've never succeeded in replicating"
you gotta put affiliate links for ice cold vanilla milkshakes cause i need one now. loved that professor x jam and murder scene. i also support 100% wet ideology

nice wolf like me rendition. very cool
pro tip 3 is so percussive - i'ts almost bassdrum and snare
I think pro tip 1 has a very Police, Roxy Music kind of thing
Well, that seemed like a simple pedal before this video.

Not sure why anyone would want a Strymon to sound like a ChaseBliss.
This pedal makes me believe in God (even more) hallelujah

Very cool review!! (suggestion, move away this big mic....) Keep it up! Thanks!!
Nothing new here.
Clap.clap. Wow strymon. Another fx leader slicing out their decade old big pedal algorithm everycouple of years. Oh you added a switch? Put that right next to the blackhole reverb and the all new h90. Play my op field through it, in STEREO. Whats up? No brains? Nothing new new? Break some ground again.
WTF did I just watch???
Bare in mind that pedal is equipped with exact same cloud algorithm in the Bigsky. Strymon is used to sell old things like they were super new. I totally disagree with their marketing policy.
@Patrick-857

It's not the same. It's based on that algorithm but it's been changed considerably.
