Struggling with LEAD CHANGES? This might be the problem...

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Lead changes on your horse can be difficult to master. Today I'm going to give you a quick tip to help you quickly improve or troubleshoot this maneuver. There are so many components that go into a good lead change. But today we're addressing a common problem that can cause a variety of issues. From not changing clean, breaking gait instead of changing, kicking out in the lead change, etc. Impulsion is your friend. I'm going to show you how I catch the problem and implement a fix.

You don't need to apologize. The fact that you're still riding this late in pregnancy and willing to put yourself out there is very commendable. I was just in your shoes not too long ago. My son just turned 9 months. Thank you for your content, I've been enjoying your videos for quite a long time. Sending blessings to you and your family.

Oh wow… you don’t even know how much respect you earned for 1) being able to physically and mentally do any of this at this stage, and 2) being honest, vulnerable, and brave enough to say how tough it is for you. Out loud. That gives other women confidence and permission to have those same feelings too. Mom’s feel alone a lot, especially in the “ranch/ farm/ horse world”. Thanks for being strong enough to say it. You helped a lot more moms than you’ll ever know with that little 30 seconds of video.

This really means a lot to me and I appreciate the encouragement! You are so right. I'm very thankful I'll get to be a mom soon, however there are a lot of very real and raw emotions that come with the realization of the impending life changes and feeling out of control of so much. Sometimes we're led to believe that we need to shove those feelings somewhere and only be happy, instead of thinking and working through them. But I'd assume it's a very real experience for a lot of working moms. I'm very grateful to have an awesome group of women who I continue to draw inspiration from. Thank you again for your comment 💙

You look really great! Don't be so hard on yourself. Great respect for doing this work and video during your pregnancy. It's very encouraging for other women to see, who worry about body image, that they don't need to worry! I love your great teaching instructions in your videos, they are so helpful.

Please don't apologize. There is no need! You are beautiful. I love your content and am happy to see another video. My mare gets so anxious when it comes to moving the hips. We have been working on it for years (she is 16, I got her when she was 8), but this is still an issue. I am wondering if we will ever get over it.

Thank you, Charlotte! I linked another video in the comments that talked about getting a horse more relaxed off the leg for lead changes. I might need to shoot another, more in-depth video on that, because it's certainly more common!

@zacharias.horsemanship I would appreciate that! It's a topic that doesn't get covered a lot. Especially in older horses. Sometimes you don't have the luxury of being with your horse from the start and then you are left with trying to fix the wholes.

You are a beautiful mommy cowgirl!!! Most of us have been pregnant and totally get how you feel but we have learned that those feelings are not accurate and so will you when your baby is born, cause the sacrifices you have made and the changes in your body will all be worth it 👶🏻 congratulations!🍼🧸 and thank you for sharing this video I actually have a Reiner who likes to slow or suck back before the lead change so I will be working on more forward and softer body parts to see if it helps her, we don’t show in reining but I would like her to be freer, love all your tips! The horse world is better off because of you and your husband ❤

Don’t be too hard on yourself. I rode all the way through all 4 of my pregnancies, and was the number one way I was able to induce labor in 3 of the 4 (the first one I was snowmachining). No one minds that you’re sweating; we all do it when we ride too.😊 The shortness of breath comes with the territory, whether your riding or just sitting in a chair relaxing, and it will get more prominent the closer you get and the Braxton-Hicks kick in. Be blessed, and I pray you and your little one are healthy and happy.

I appreciate your encouragement! 😅 I rode all my training horses until 7.5 months. Riding made my sciatica intensely worse and it got to the point that I basically couldn't walk anymore if I continued to ride that many. So I cut back to 2 a day until a week before birth.
