Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Struggling with over excitement when training HEEL? This video goes over how to work on heelwork when your dog is too excited, over aroused, frustrated or if you've not trained in a long time and you want to warm your dog up before training heelwork. This training video goes over 3 games to play to warm your dog up and build focus and impulse control to train the heeling behavior using positive reinforcement.

Your timing! :) My dog is doing Level One dog obedience, we are on Summer holidays in Australia, and your video is a reminder to get back to practice! At the dog club it's been about teaching my dog to find her calm, quiet, and loose leash walking. We are slow on recall at 4m because it's not challenging enough (she's good at recall from 10+ metres) and so she veers off to go say hi to other dogs in assessment 🤦‍♀️. Thanks for the inspiration to get back to training practice before dog club resumes :)

My goodness! 30 days sick! So glad to see you up and well. It’s as if you read my mind with this video. Impulse control features large with one dog I walk & train,a 10 mos old Bernedoodle. I need to get the owners on board with games for her but they want quick fixes. It’s a conundrum. She’s a fabulous young dog, eager to please and full of excitement (apartment dwellers and both parents work full time so a lot falls to me on walks). I keep nagging them to always reward/treat her at their side instead of in front of them. But…. If only people were as easy to work with as their dogs.

For just a normal person who doesnt do fancy heelwork and just wants to have their dog not put them over, they could play a game where they walk and then stop and then mark and feed multiple tomes for stopping, then go then stop, so the dog starts offering stopping, and gets more interested in seeing what the person is doing. Well thats what I do with my dogs when they get pully, we play the stop and go game

Wonderful, thank you! Something I'm struggling with at the moment is playing with and training with my two dogs seperately. My reacue isn't quite reliable with the Place cue yet and when either of them heae me use the clicker for my other dog, even in another room, they get too excited and they get involved. Do you have a video that relates to this sort of thing? Also do you use different cue words for all your different dogs or do they know who you're talking to by you saying their name on every cue or having the other in place only? :)

Hello Emily! Your videos are so helpful. I have been watching and using harness the hunter video for my border collie mix. My question is this type of training/heel work needed for walking on a loose leash? Or for hiking in the forest? Another question, do you have a video on training "bring" the toy back? My dog doesn't fetch, not super toy motivated.

Wow Emily nice work. Everytime I watch you or other trainers I just feel like a terrible trainer for my Service Dog in training.Your dogs are ALREADY highly trained so I can Never learn anything. Your dogs are extremely Advanced. My dog is struggling with me. I am struggling to even get him to heal at all. He's a Miniature Schnauzer mix and beyond stubborn. You're starting off showing us a Lamborghini and my pup is a VW. I can never learn from trainers on KZread because everyone shows an already highly trained dog. I'm frustrated. Have a good night and glad to see you are feeling better.

I do but its one of the member videos. Yeah, for little dogs its a whole other behavior really. Because I do heelwork on different sides, I use Tight to mean the left side, and Push is the cue to touch something with duration (like close a door, or hold the nose on a target stick thats moving)
