Simulation of 3D printing in ANSYS done by company SVS FEM
Fused depositing modeling (FDM) is manufacturing process which is used by some type of 3D printers. Mechanical stability of printed structure can be weakness of the method. It is caused by high thermal changes and thermal expansion of common filament material.
FEM model using birth/death technology on regular mesh over printed structure has been developed for ANSYS Mechanical by special ACT based Python/APDL script. Used script driven time step method of simulation lets to grow of printed structure and also to simulate thermo-structural behavior in time domain (transient effects). Temperatures and displacements are base DOF.

How can we perform structural simulations on the 3D printed structures?
How did you add the 3d printer body into it and animated the entire simulation?

We used rigid bodies driven by time curves via APDL commands
Would it be possible to see the code related to this?

Not for now, the ACT has no UI, but we are able to create made-to-order UI for a customer.
