    But it didn't do anything well. It is too short. Anything under 4 inches is not very useful in the forest. It is an urban package opener.

  • @GingrBreadMan

    @GingrBreadMan

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@julianpetkov8320 that's kinda the point of a folder.... To be small but useful, I don't want to carry a massive blade on me at all times while carrying a whole bunch of other crap on me. Also small blades have there place outside of opening packages, I work as a contractor and I have never felt the need to carry anything larger then a 3 inch blade. I pry, notch, cut, scrap with my blade and open boxes/cut wrap. need to cut branches or clear brush? grab a sawzall or a machete.... treating a knife like an axe is silly imo, but it all comes back to what tool do you need for what task versus convenience, very small tasks that can be done with a blade that will save you a trip to the truck versus being an idiot and trying to cut a tree down with a 4 inch blade.... Also the point they were making is that for what it is, it did pretty well. the freek was never marketed as the super heavy duty bushcraft knife that can withstand everything you throw at it, it's just a edc knife. Also a side note I don't like cold steel, the lock is unnessary and slow to use and deploy and the quality outside of durability is trash... pretty sure they just screw in the thumb stud and lock rock it in place and why is the thumb studs uneven? Why does everyone go gaga over the triad lock it is just a back lock but slightly modified... Why is the detent on them so bad? Maybe i'm being to critical but my god, why are these pocket knives so heavily praised.

    Is there any evidence that this is true? I've heard it repeated a lot. I've seen Felix Immler use the trick to avoid damaging the extremely fragile Victorinox Swiss Army Knife lockup but I believe he only used it to score the top of the log blade deep, then pry the knife out and use wedges to split. I don't really see any reason why hammering on the top of the handle with the blade at 90 degrees would be less damaging. I could see it being worse in fact. Anyone tested this?

  • @toma1460

    @toma1460

    9 ай бұрын

    @@DL-ij7tfnot sure you understand exactly what is being said. With the handle unlocked and at 90 the blade is still horizontal like batoning as usual. The handle however kinda left dangling vertically so as you hit the front and rear of the blade to baton down you aren't hitting the handle but the back of the blade at the pivot point. Hope that helps.

    The victory of the Cold Steel was a foregone conclusion, however I always remain convinced that the knife can never replace the axe and the axe can never replace the knife, the same as a folding knife can never replace a fixed blade and a fixed blade will never replace a folding knife, for each activity its instrument. When I go to do bushcraft I always use a Mora and an axe, when I go trekking I use a little folding knife, when I'm at work my Leatherman Surge never leaves me and always saves me from the unexpected. Really good work guys! I hope this new European copyright law does not compromise your quality, you are a great channel, keep it up! ;D

I didn't throw it at trees tho (consider its sheer weight and size, the forces exerted on the hardware at the impact are much higher than with the other knives, especially the smallest ones like the BM and cs.. so I would use this part of the test as reference . )

    I agree with the toughness but I don't think it's that comfortable or user friendly but I do think I makes a great backup survival knife . I have the one with the USA carpenter steel less than $24 hard to beat for toughness/value to price ratio. I have xxl hands and I'm 6' 3" , 300+ lbs and can open the pocket bushman one handed , no one else that has tried to open mine One handed other than myself has succeeded . I'm wicked tough , HA HA HA just kidding , no. This knife could be very dangerous for some less experienced and weaker physically and mentally and morally . morraly???what the F🐑🌊k

    I was fully aware that the demko tri-ad lock and secondary locks are tough guys. I had no idea that an axis lock can be that resistant. Like, damn...

    Great video! Is there any chance of reviewing the CRKT M16 folding knifes? They also lock like these knifes do

    Its interesting the 2 bigger knives lost against 2 smaller lighter knives. I own the Benchmade freak and I like it a lot but I tend to baby it because its so nice looking.
