Sustainability is the future - but not all sustainability is created equally.
We only have a finite amount of resources on our planet. But these resources are often exchanged for other resources - for example, cutting down trees and using carbon credits to balance out the impacts.
This is weak sustainability - the idea that all resources are the same, and can be interchanged for each other.
In contrast, strong sustainability asks us to preserve our natural resources - if we extract too many resources from our ecosystems, they will struggle to recover. By relying on renewable resources and reducing our impacts, we can create a thrivable world where humanity lives in harmony with nature - now and into the future.
