I love stromae, even I I do not speak French, because of how he performs. He develops a character for each and every song he does. Ta fete, he is always more rigid serious. Papaoutai, he is the still father figure. And formidable, well, he is the drunk boyfriend! He makes an active attempt to stick to his character in every performance, and he does an amazing job as well. He also sings well. That is also a plus!

Quelque chose de Stromae me manque. Sa gentillesse. Sa poésie. L'art de chanter ce que tu as au fond de toi. Si je le voyais dans le métro, je lui dirais juste "merci, bonne route mon grand". Mais il me manque.

I've listened to this song probably a hundred times but this one brought tears to my eyes. You can see and feel the passion in this performance and I do not currently speak French. Absolutely love Stromae

Les gens filment pour garder un souvenir et surtout pour avoir preuve d'avoir été témoin de ça, de pouvoir partager et montrer la video à leurs proches. Et la plupart ne regardent pas leurs écrans quand ils filment, ils tiennent leurs téléphones dans leurs mains mais regardent le spectacle avec leur yeux. C'est un truc qui m'énerve les gens qui disent "tous ces jeunes avec leurs portables qui filment". Ca n'empêche pas de profiter du show. Si les gens avaient eu des camescopes dans les années 60 pour filmer les Beatles ça aurait été exactement la même chose.

La première phrase est totalement fausse. S’ils filment, c’est seulement pour une petite minorité que cela va être gardé en souvenir. Pour tous les autres, c’est juste histoire de pouvoir montrer ça aux autres sans y porter forcément grand intérêt! Le simple fait que ce soit Stromae et pas un chanteur de métro avec autant de talent encourage les gens à filmer, juste à cause de l’étiquette, pas à cause du moment présent. Donc oui, je prends parti pour les vieux puristes qui disent que c’était mieux avant, car oui ce genre de moments qui devraient créer une certaine magie laissent juste place à un froid et des portables, bref zéro émotions!

Je crois que c'est difficile de se contenir quand on voit une telle interprétation. Il fait passer une certaine détresse dans son texte que sa te travail au tripes ! Il est FORMIDABLE! Pour moi sa restera vraiment une des meilleurs artistes de notre siècle.

Quel dommage qu'il soit passé aussi vite qu'il est arrivé dans le paysage audiovisuel. Quelques grands morceaux puis il s'en est allé.. ils sont si rares les artistes de ce niveau, qui amènent une telle originalité dans leur musique et une telle profondeur dans leurs textes, et on aurait tant aimé en découvrir d'autres. J'espère qu'il n'a pas dit son dernier mot.

Level 3: Realising that even considering level 2, we're still consuming the media in a way decried by Stromae (Carmen). Level 4: Realising art in a capitalistic structure promotes essentially sensationnalism and vanity, make a burn-out and take distances from fame.

This brings a huge smile on my face. Merci Maestro. C'est vraiement formidable.

I don't care if he was acting while singing this. pain he expresses is sooo real (4:55 - 5:20) ! If i was there in the audience I wouldn't just stand there with my phone in his face. especially after 4:51 while he's singing that chorus, I'd go up to him and hug him. hug him with understanding and without understanding. The pain is felt. AM i the only one here that would do that?? I dunno why, but every time i comment on one of Stromae's video's i end up writing a long paragraph or mini essay XD tu etais formidable Stromae!!!!

You would have had security on you before you could get that close. He's a celebrity, and personally I wouldn't have known who he was at that point when he filmed this so I probably wouldn't have stopped. Not everybody knows his songs are real, he's very theatrical and that's the way I saw him (acting) before I read all the comments on here...

truly amazing.. his emotion and artistic image... pure genius. there's no other artist like him!! alot of his supporters do not speak French.. and so I love how he places english subtitles in his videos.. very helpful. But even though his music is in another language you can STILL tell How talented he is and how every song has a story... every song is brilliant! we feel the emotion in his songs....

Mais je pense que beaucoup de personnes pensent que Stromae est français de France (c'est surtout les français qui pensent ça, je le suis et j'ai appris qu'il était belge il y a 3 ans). Donc faut pas trop en vouloir aux gens. Ce n'est en aucun cas de "l'appropriation culturelle" mais surtout de l'ignorance ;)
