the difference is all alone and just with DRS Aston only gets up to 334 while the RB hits 343 and Max was further away before the dive. RB efficiency and DRS are on another level

Last year the fastest speed whole season was 360 by Sainz in Monza But 2023 cars seem to be faster on the straights than 2022 cars so it's expectable that the speed would be higher

Another thing is that top speed on straight depends on the last corner exit, which Max with his oversteery style gets extremely early on the throttle and gets better traction

Due to the current cars' weight and size, it actually will be pretty difficult to reach the top speed which the SF90 reached in 2019, we can see some evidence from the Azerbaijan GP.

Las Vegas has very long straights but I expect similar topspeeds as in baku and miami. Mexico and Monza will be a bit higher due to the altitude(mexico) and setup(monza)

they brought new upgrades to their aero, giving them extra speed on the straight and a DRS efficiency similar to RB(basically RB's drs is 0.5 kmh more efficient than AM new drs) Aston martin was the second fastest car on the straight without drs and slipstream, But they were quite a lot behind red bull, and not so far ahead of competition(mostly 1kmh behind them)

Just a different gearbox ratio design. Mercedes gearbox has shorter gears by design, probably because they know they have more drag than RB.

@@fabioviana6095 well no, the link between engine and wheels (so car speed) is fixed through the transmission. A certain rpm at a certain gear always correspond to the same velocity. Different engine modes influence how quickly they reach a certain speed or the top speed.

Their car last year also started out as the worst. They knew it’d be terrible, they went in the wrong direction during development so they were already working on a B-spec car before the original car had even hit the track. This year, they started out with a great car. So I very much doubt they’ll gain even half as much as they did last year.

The Aston also has bad straight line speed. It just has really good grip, especially rear end. I think the Mercedes has better top speeds but sacrifice downforce

The Mercedes is really draggy, because of the no-sidepod design. The sidepod in this era is really important to direct the airflow over the bigger tyres. Since Mercedes almost doesn't have any sidepods, the rears become and huge wall for the air.

the flap opens thats it. its all in regulation. it does nothing out of the ordinary. there is nothing "suspect" unless you count having good aero as "suspect"

@@armanromana1580 Yeah there's nothing suspect except for being seemingly twice as powerful as drs from any other car. I'm sure a team known for bending wings and off throttle exhaust blowing among other things definitely wouldn't try anything out of the ordinary though.
And you picked the worst camera for Max...That helmet cam is so overrated. You can't see anything.

@@charliresendiz8932 you can pick any driver, the world feed, the F1TV feed, or the data feed. FOM picks which camera is shown for each onboard however. Sometimes you're stuck staring at the rear wing for 3 laps

Alonso as almost the same amount of years in F1 than Stroll has in his life. De Vries, a rookie, is 4 years older than Stroll.

@@TheSens_ and your point is? Alonso had 2 world titles when he was in f1 for 5 years. Stroll has been in f1 for 7 years and achieved nothing... de vries is, lets say, about as good as stroll.
