It’s tied below belly too so he goes in the water headfirst towards the blades

how could such a huge guy kneels on a narrow boat and keeps the balance that wouldn't fall off the boat? Is that coordinated with Newtonian mechanics?..... I bet that I will definitely fall into the water once I step a foot on this boat.

i was gonna say that this facility probably costs a million times more than say just going out and paddling. But again, a treadmill costs a lot more than just going out and pounding the pavement. you need the regularity to train and compare results.

@@Green87 you think an olympic athlete will train on a $200 treadmill? This is a state of the art Indoor Kayak pool. A state of the art treadmill is cost thousands to over 10k.

The c1 and c2 don't have steering like kayaks if u see the video in slow motion u can see the wrist movements that's the way the c1 stays in straight line

The key is to catch the momentu as quick as You can to stay balanced. Same as bicycle or motorcycle

This facility is in Potsdam close to Berlin. It is used by the german national team. The facility was already build by the GDR.

All I can think of is how much the electric bill is at that place if that isn’t being drafted from a river in some way. I assume for consistent speed you’d need to use pumps, and that’s a lot of water.

I'm not a fan of high tech, very expensive science being used to win Olympic events. It goes against all the principles of people training equally...from rich to poor countries...and so does not represent "naturally best athlete." The Olympics are about equality in finding the best.
