Stripping & Whitewashing an Antique Wood Table
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
I love a good oak furniture piece but sometimes it can be just a little too yellow for the look I am going for. This project I am Stripping & Whitewashing an Antique Wood Table. I've had this oak table for a year or more in my antique & vintage inventory, I even had it for sale in the booth for a short time. It wasn't selling in it's current form so It was time to give this piece a full makeover. I decided that I wanted the top to be whitewashed with a painted & distressed base. How do you think I did?

Thank you! It feels good to post more regular too.
Something for everyone in the shop keeps money flowing. You never know who needs this table. Grey has saturated my real estate market.
The table turned out fabulous ,don’t sell yourself short ! I’ve had issues with the weather interfering with my projects . Had to bring pieces inside so that the humidity didn’t interfere with dry time .
Yes! You can start styling it now. My favorite part.
We needed a longer full shot at the end!!! ❤
I love how the table came out. The warped top wouldn't bother me. It gives it character. I sell furniture as well and when i come across a piece that's like that i wet a towel down and rinse it out and with the weather as hot as its been its perfect. You put the very damp towel on just the warped area and place a nice straight piece of wood on that then add a lot of heavy items on top of that. You need to let it sit for a few days in the heat to help it go back in place. It doesn't always go completely down but it does look a lot better.
I love your videos and how real you are! Keep ‘em coming ❤
The table looks great and the way you styled it is awesome! Glad to see your videos more often ❤
I so enjoy your videos, thanks! The top is cupping, easy fix- wet the wood and lay something heavy and flat on top as they dry.
Always happy to see a video from you. Have loved all the variety in your videos: from crafting a mood board to booth resets to refinishing/beautifying old furniture, you do it all! Thanks for keeping the content coming! Am looking forward to what's in store with your fall booth reset!!

IMHO that gorgeous tabletop shouldn’t be covered up with so many styling pieces.

Nice overhaul on the table. I really like the beefy base.

It is a solid base!
I’m refinishing my grandfather’s desk right now and my hands need a break. Saw this and was nice to see another hard working woman like myself. As someone who has worked in the paint industry and color consultant and professional painter for several decades, I think Urbane Bronze would’ve been the color for the base. It’s one of my go colors. You’re a great stylist,too.

I definitely would have been happy with an Urbane Bronze base as well. I hope the refinishing goes well on your grandfather's desk!

@@amandasmercantile Oh, I have no doubts that it’s going to be beautiful. Working with solid blonde oak (that’s what my grandfather called it) and incredible wood workmanship. I refinished the matching dresser that is now the show stopping buffet in my kitchen. Nothing like working with a quality pieces. Keep up the good work, us girls gotta stick together 💖
Really beautiful! I was leaning toward the black fox but love the one you used. I have a table I want to redo. We painted the whole thing black and distressed it maybe 10 years ago. I’ve just grown tired of it. Can’t remember what type of wood but I’m going to strip the paint off soon and try the technique you used with the white wash. We’ll see what happens 😂
Great job I love your style !! I got a sample from Lowe’s before and the person working in the paint department told me that their samples weren’t real paint.. whatever that means? So I just get larger cans of paint mixed at Home Depot or I’ve had good luck with Benjamin Moore colors and paint!

Not real paint?? Well, then what is it sir? 🧐 I like Benjamin Moore products too.
Live the table! Can the planks come off separately and if so maybe you could shave them down or plane them to be even?
That’s what I was going to say…really need to even out the top. Ask a handy dealer at the mall you are at!

I probably will. Thank you!
Thanks for the post! Very inspiring. You posted 180 grit for the table top. Did you mean 80??? I’m new and learning the basics. Wouldn’t you need something rougher to strip the tabletop (I struggle with 120 grit). Also, love the paint choices!
I love your background music….who is it??
The table turned out great. Did it sell?
I think spraying the table with water was why it warped😕
@amandasmercantile

It was already that way.
Hello do you find it harder or easier to sell a table without chairs?
@amandasmercantile
7 ай бұрын
If you mean staging a table for sale with or without chairs, I always try to have a set of chairs on hand to stage with a table but I always have them priced separately and they usually end up selling to different buyers as well. Furniture sets don’t often sell well together, an exception to that might be a MCM table & chair set. Thank you for watching the video!
it just needed a refinish ...
Always inspired by you! Love the pheasant. Is it at the Factory?
