STRIPERS BLITZING on MACKERELS CAPE COD CANAL 2020

Спорт

First I want to start this off by saying RIP to my grandfather. I received the news of his passing while I out on this trip striper hunting. He was one of my biggest supporters and if it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t have the passion I have for this great sport...... It’s been a long season at the canal y’all. Fish have been far and few in between. The past few years has spoiled many anglers greatly, including myself. But one think I like about it(this year) is you had to put in that time and work for them. Which is something I don’t mind doing. Not giving up and continuing to strive, is what helped me hook into some stripers. Not only was I able to find them but I also had multiple hookups. I even almost got pulled off the rock by a striper(which was crazy) lol. With all that being said, thanks for watching the video. If you have any question and feel free to ask. If you like the content of this video just give it a thumbs and subscribe. Always remember y’all..... Fishing is life..... SO LIVE IT UP!

    Yo so humble dude. Love the passion for the sport and sorry for the loss of your grandfather. Mine has had the same impact in my life to me as well and stood in to be the father I needed for life lessons and the sport for sure. God bless!

    Thank you man. You have to be. It’s the only way to grow. When your humble, you want to grow, learn and experience different things. I’ve learned that from my grandfather. There’s a fine line between confident and cockiness. You’re grandfather sounds like a great man! I appreciate your feedback and you subscribing. God bless to you as well 🙏🏽

    Great video man... sorry for your loss brother I have also lost two people in my life my Dad and my Sister both at a young age only time will heal. I'm an out of towner coming for the first time to cape cod today. I'm from Connecticut and familiar with catching striper from the long Island sound. But what do you recommend for fishing in those waters.

    That’s what I keep hearing. Timing will heel all wounds! I’m sorry for your loss man. No one is every ready to loss someone they love. I appreciate that advice and reaching out. Honestly it’s good to have options with lures. You’re going a need lures that will bounce bottom such as the savage sand eel, joebagg patriot, al gags whip and bucktails. Lures that can be fished in the middle column same lures as bouncing bottom except you want to go light on the jighead, sebile stick Shad metal lips and bottom darter. Then topwater like pencils, sebile swimmers and popper. As you can see it can get costly. You don’t have to have all of those lures but pick one or two from each category and you said be good! Good luck man

    Is there a rod you would recommend for lure fishing at the canal?

  • @obsessedwithfishing470

    @obsessedwithfishing470

    I use two different rods. One for jigging and one for topwater. The jigging rod is a jigster 10’6. Topwater is a Shimano Tiralejo 10MH. Now if you want one all around rod to do everything, I’d say go with the Tiralejo 10MH OR 11ft MH. I just prefer using two different setups to have options.

    LoL, don’t take this the wrong way, but I fish with only a small few anglers in my circle. You take people to your spots, then they tell their friends and so on and so on! So that’s why I fish with only a few of my buddies.

    It’s all about timing. Not to mention trial and error. If you’re not getting anything, get on the bike and take a ride. Cover as much ground as you can. I know it may suck because it’s 14 miles(7miles each side) of ground to cover, but it makes all that much worth it when you do get into them. This year you had to really put in your time and work for them. I went 4 times and got skunk before I got on that bite you saw in this video. I’ve been going there for years man and I’m still learning about it. So don’t get discouraged, just keep going. One day you’re going to go home happy and you’re arms sore from pulling in so many fish. Good luck out there🎣🤘🏽

  • @obsessedwithfishing470

    To be completely honest, if it’s crowded and you try to get into a spot yeah. You get looks. You might get a comment or a snotty remark. At the same time you have to remember it’s about etiquette. Ask, be respectful about it. Especially if they were there first. You get guys that were literally fish within 10ft next to you on both sides. To me that a little too close. I need room to cast and my rods are 10ft and up. It’s always good to give the angler some space. That way no one gets hooked, hit with a lure and line crossing is less consistently. It’s frustrating to have someone on top of you when the fish are biting and you’re stuck having to untangle their line from yours. I have no problem asking or waiting for a spot to open up.
