I don't feel that this was a fight between a pure grappler and a pure striker. The BJJ guy had some stand up game and the Muay Thai figher although not a great grappler clearly had enough grappling knowledge to put up a good defence. It's more of demonstration of what being the fitter and more aggressive fighter can accomplish.

Yeah, the Thai fighter probably could punch more the face of the other dude, and give him a concussion, But he chose a merciful ( but painful) way to defeat the BJJ black belt, with low kicks. I prefer feeling pain in my legs for 2 weak than getting CTE

3:18 is when the fight goes wrong. Alex's right leg is starting to hurt, but that's not the problem. His stance is too wide, so from then on he can't get the weight off his front foot fast enough to check the kicks. He's trying to get a strong stance and also protect his leg, but in doing so he basically dooms himself to absorbing the full force of every kick. Compare the width of his stance to Y2K, who is used to high checking (until the point he just gives up and starts the running chop kicks, but it's over by that point anyway).

you know I was just sitting here wondering why that dude's corner continued letting him go out round after round to get punished and embarrassed. Back in the 80's and 90's I remember that your corner was allowed to throw in the towel in the middle of a fight to save your fighter from further damage. I wonder if that is still allowed.

So, the interesting thing about this re-upload is hearing Alex's corner so clearly. I often wonder what the corner says in a situation like this. Nothing useful, it turns out. Why in the hell would they even let this fight continue once Yodkaikaew caught on to their fighter having no striking defense whatsoever? It's his trainers fault, as much as anyone, and Alex could have been seriously hurt. They should have admitted the mistake in preparation and protected their fighter.

I don't know what the pep talk involved but given his striking game was severely outmatched he should have been spending much less time on his feet and constantly going for the takedown. I guess he was scared of Yodkaikaew kicking him in the face and getting a T.K.O and I can hardly blame him. That guy is f*cking scary.
